It does not help that the Scarlet Knights fail to take advantage of the opportunities they get. Per Synergy, Rutgers is shooting 24% on unguarded catch-and-shoot attempts in the half-court and scores at 0.72 points per possession in that scenario, which both rank in the 7th percentile nationally. Some of the misses are not even close

I’ve been saying we get good shots. The failure to run an offense excuse not holding water for me. We have the yips.

We don’t run good offense , the getting decent shots is because we played crap defensive teams . Also teams will give us open threes because we haven’t proven to hit them. Why fly out on a close out when we can just brick a 3

I think the point of “running an offense” is to get good shots. Bottom line is we are not shooting well. Anyone can see this. Some people believe running plays leads to good offense. I think in college in particular it’s more about learning how to pay the game versus running set plays. In any event we are getting good shots we just aren’t making them. From teeny bopper through high school coaches are enamored with running an offense vs teaching kids how to play the game.

I agree with some of this, but there needs to be a balance. Like you need to run food stuff to get guys shots in their spots when you need a bucket or you’re in a drought or end of game situations. There is some truth in what you say as running more motion and reading and reacting is hard to scout versus sets but we don’t do that well either
