What? We made the tournament...you said he was an NIT coach.

You're a weird dude.
1 game separated the NCAAs from the NIT, but go on.

It’s comical how hard some of you guys think it is to make the tournament. You just need to be 9th out of 14 teams and you’re in.

How was I wrong? I said the man was overrated when this entire board was crushing on him like they were in 5th grade.

Turns out, he actually was overrated. And I’ve yet to see the guy run an actual offense that puts his players in a position to succeed.

Dribble dribble dribble dribble standing standing standing. It’s been happening for years now.

To be fair if you look at the big ten standings...there’s a realistic chance we do finish tied 12th or 11th in the conference.

Though I don’t believe we will go 0-3 the rest of the way, and I think we’re having a “good” season.
And when we were predicted to be 12th that was probably with 6-7 wins. Not as even as it is this year.
12th is 12th. Slice it however you want. Gary Waters would outcoach this guy.
Yet Gary Waters never came close to sniffing the type of NCAA tourney success Pike has had….and Waters faced far inferior competition no less!
How do you slice that?

We are terrible right now...absolutely terrible. Its not ok, and lets see what Pike does. This is bad.

But you didn't say we would make the NCAAs 2 years in a row. Then fall flat. You said we wouldn't make the tourney.

AND YOU WERE WRONG...FOR 2 YEARS.

pssst....catching on yet????

Idk, for starters maybe the numerous times in this thread where you said the 19-20 team wasn’t going to make the tournament?

The fact that you decided to bump this two years later is honestly embarrassing.

Maybe you should re-read the OP. I said Pike was overrated and listed many of the issues that are happening right now.

For some reason you’re ignoring that

I made similar posts about Flood when he was making bowl games. Does that mean I was wrong about Flood too.

We all know how this story ends, and it’s weird you guys are trying to hang on to hope like this.

Wake me when Pike actually starts coaching the team.

Pike doesn't suck is like an above average opinion of him on this board at this time, so I guess you no longer feel he is overrated.
Nope, it appears the board has come back down to reality and sees Pike for what he is. A poor recruiter who preaches effort and a potato offense.

Without Jacob Young, the NCAA drought is still going strong.
Yes generally good players help your chances of making the NCAA tournament.

So does Pikiell not get credit for bringing Young to Rutgers? Because unless Jacob Young was somehow born as a Rutgers basketball player I don’t understand what point you’re trying to make.

His point is
(1) Pikiell sucks because he can't recruit
(2) When Pikiell did well it was because he recruited a good player
(3) ?????
(4) He's right!

It's easier to get a good player to come than drive a good player out. So far, he's driven out two. Young and omoruyi. Good coaches find ways to appease big personalities. It's called managing a team.

So you want him to get credit for driving good players away? F that.
