They deserve to go out better than this. Im a Pike fan - but he let Geo and Ron down big time. This was suppose to be a celebration and joyful yr - for 2 very important RU players in recent history. But Pike failed to bring in talent to compliment and help them. The energy in the Rac will likely die down as the losses add up, and they won't get to go out on an exciting note. Shame

Pike too has rested on his laurels. Instead of using the success to go out and accumulate talent via the portal or recruiting his *** off, he'd rather do it his way and is now comfortable because we made the tourney two years in a row. Also, the style we play isn't going to attract big time offensive players moving forward and we will see more projects and under the radar kids like we've been seeing.

I’m praying Jalen Miller has a handle and plays the defense everyone is taking about.
Maybe he’s our season savior, we won’t know unless he plays.

I think the fact that he hasn't seen the court at all tells us he is not the savior.
I am hoping Jones can get more time on the court. I believe he is going to be a heck of a scorer.

Relax folks. We lost 2 starters and key pieces to our success. It sometimes takes time for kids to gel & step up to new roles. We may start slow, but can still get this thing trending up to where we need to be at end of the season.

If Harper and Geo want to go out in style it is their team and they need to step up. They have been average so far against marginal competition, both shooting a little below 45%, and they had too many TO's in the loss.

The issue I see here is some people just don't know how to evaluate play.

Rutgers played awful in their first 60 minutes vs Lehigh and Merrimack.

Finished Merrimack with a strong effort.

Played well against NJIT but they had guys hitting shots like they were steph and klay and that game should have been a 20+ point win.

I think we actually played well against depaul. Depaul has some solid guys on their team we just had some unlucky bounces and a God awful whistle.

I think if pike makes the change to take out Caleb and insert Hyatt we will see a more complete team.

We are missing a good backup 5 but this team isn't awful

They're good ballplayers but, imo, were overhyped between seasons, and now with the lack of other scorers are being asked to do too much.
Overhyped and overrated. Harper may be the best player on the team, but he does not at all look like he is NBA ready.

what has Cliff done that everyone loves him? He couldn’t stay out of foul trouble and had 2 rebounds against his first true test Thursday. Take away his running, jumping and alley oops and He has zero offense. He doesnt Rim protect, or block shots, he doesn’t rebound in traffic. Hes dropped several rebounds. He hasn’t been able to back down his defender and score against inferior smaller players. I see the potential and it’s early, he is still raw, but I don’t get the love affair with Cliff To date.

Totally agree. He’s super athletic but that’s about it. He is nowhere near being a complete player. His offensive post game is nothing short of atrocious and is really hard to watch.

I think it’s still early for this reaction. Let’s see how the minutes are distributed. I think it will change. Hyatt and Jones

1. Did you really think that rutgers basketball was going to be a start rise to the top with no bumps in the road? Rutgers is rutgers. Two good seasons does not erase 30 years of absolute failure

2. For anyone who feels bad for Ron, geo and Cliff etc.. why? They aren’t good enough. If they were good enough then you wouldn’t have anything to feel bad about

Some might argue that Geo and Ron are letting Pike down with below than expected performances thus far. I wouldn't do that after four games but just offering a counterpoint to your silly comment.

He wasn't going to get a good 1,2,4 or 5 as players aren't going to go to the place where there are already minutes allocated. His only real open slot he filled with Hyatt.

Losing Young, Mathis and Myles wasn't the biggest killer. Not being able to replace Jacob with a guard that can score and defend could end up being the nail in the coffin. That isn't Pike's fault.

It’s absolutely his fault. Hyatt was a good pick up we needed to close in high school ideally

I take Myles back over Jacob if I could only pick one. I'm sure I'm in the minority there but damn if this team doesn't need that rim protector/second big man in the middle. I'd even be OK starting Cliff but having them both play big minutes. I think we can get enough long term out of the back court to make up for Jacob. I don't see a legit second big man on this team (and still have some questions about Cliff's ability to be that rim protector).

How was he going to get an impact guard?
We don’t even need an impact player in then conventional sense we just need a capable below average to average point guard lol. But a couple ways:

1: not bench his impact guard and best player last season and play favorites to essentially push him out

2: make quinnerly a take a don’t turn him away

3: recruit a well rounded point guard out of high school in the last 3 classes

4: add a point guard in portal

Not worth debating at this point.....but if we were I'd agree.

We are talking about the portal for this year.

What point guard is coming here?

PLEASE STOP WITH QUINNERLY!!!!!!!! That is exactly what a program like ours doesn't need.

If you forgive the other failures and just look at In the portal this year you can bring anyone in there is only one point guard on our team and it’s a true freshman who doesn’t play

People seriously need to stop with this. The only player who played more minutes last year than Jacob Young was RHJ. Was Myles "benched" when Cliff was starting?

My thoughts exactly. Ron and Geo are the solution and the problem. There is way too little motion and ball movement in the offense. The ball gets stuck too long is Geo's hands with him trying to do too much off the dribble. Ron needs to cut more when he does not have the ball and be a slasher when he does . He is bogging down the offense camping at the 3 point line. The support players need to be more active setting screens. I can't stand the over use of the on ball screen. The offense needs more down screens and back door cuts when being over played. The fixes are fairly simple. This team believes they are built to turn on the offense at any time. They can't. This team can go on runs but they are not an offensive juggernaut.
