Much better action and ball movement this game , especially the second half. The ball didn’t stick as much and the ball needs to keep going through Ron and geo

Pike wanted to discipline Jaden. But valuable playing experience was wasted by not putting him back in. I wish we could get more of our reserves in these games

We don't know what transpired on the bench w/Jaden. But even if he immediately apologized to the team for his lack of self-control, it's pretty important for Pike to send a very strong message to the young man. Getting T'd up like that didn't matter in this game, and this game didn't really matter either.

But Pike has to think longer term. He needs Jaden to understand that such losses of control could be the difference between a win or a loss later in the season. Could be the difference between making it to the tournament or not. Getting to the next round or not. Send the wrong message, or too weak a message now, and it can lead to problems later. Better to address it now.

idk it looked more like the ref was trying to hold him off and Jaden kinda pushed his chest out a little...no way that's called on Harper, Geo or anyone on Duke lol
We'll probably never know. But his lips were moving and the ref's reaction was pretty instant. So I'm sticking w/it being something he said to the other player.

The real problem is that Jones (and Hyatt) are not reserves.

They wont be reserves come Big Ten time. I think Pike is giving Mulcahy and McConnell the opportunity to show they dont belong as starters. Give the veterans the opportunity against the weaker teams, ease in the new guys, and go with your best when the competition ratchets up

While I think what you're both saying is very possible, I'm not certain it'll work out that way. Pike obviously values defense, especially team defense. Both Paul and Caleb are really good at team defense and Caleb is also good at man to man (not Paul so much though).

OTOH, Hyatt showed himself to be pretty good at team defense tonight, at least a couple times that I noticed. And he's more of a consistent offensive threat than Paul or Caleb. And better at man to man defense than Paul.

Pike has some thinking to do.

I also felt like the ref gave him a chance to stop but he didn't listen. He earned that T and the bench time. Hopefully he learns from it because he is going to be a heck of a player.

everyone’s freaking out, but we’re 3-0 with two double-digit victories in the midst of a shooting slump for several of our guys. defense has been great. pike’s formula lol we should be fairly used to this
Just stop already! You're making too much sense.
