I said in the pre season my starting lineup included Hyatt and was shot down.

I still think Mulcahy and McConnell have value off the bench. They play better when they aren’t starters. And if they play well they can be ok the court at the end of the game.

Paul is a below average player. Playing him at point is really dumb. Caleb's jump shot was much better 2 years ago. His midrange game was good back then. Both players at the moment to me are minus players.

If we had a choice of Geo or Jacob transferring it would be Geo all day. Jacob was the only one who could guard athletic guards, is a much better defensive player and better offensive player. He saved so many offensive possessions for us by being able to create offense when it bogged down. Oh, and we miss Myles defensive presence.

Pretty sad that our first 2 games against out matched teams we weren't able to get Jalen Miller some good minutes.

It could be a case of giving the vets the benefit of the doubt for starting and minutes, but after a few games there is tape to evaluate and justify a switch. Veteran player says coach, I feel like I should be starting still. Coach says, let's go over some tape together. This is why that guy jumped you in the rotation.

PM can NEVER run the offense….EVER.
He’s a sneaky tough rebounder from underneath, and pretty good at getting the ball on the wing and making a move towards the basket where he can dish.
H should not touch the ball at the top of the key

Agree, Mulchahy is not a point guard
Has no handle and gets beat on defense all the time.
My thoughts as well. Rutgers really lacks a point guard that can push the ball up, penetrate , and score a few points. PM is not the answer. It's Rutgers guard play that has really suffered without JY .....

I get what Pike is doing ; you want to give the nod to the veterans and ease the newcomers in. I think we saw today what the lineup should be
I hope you're right. What about the point guard signed out of Washington DC ? Why not give him the ball to see what he has to offer?

Pike needs to get over his love affair with Mulchahy and romance with McConnell. If they continue to start or play major minutes Pike is a fool. That means the slow footed and often invisible Baker must be our primary PG. We will get torched all season by fast, quick and talented BG10 guards and not much can be done about it. We lack team speed except for Cliff, and ball scorers. We have a collection of rim bangers. Maybe Hyatt and Jones can become key contributors otherwise even the NIT Tournament will be a reach for this team.

Unfortunately looks like you may be right.

This thread cracks me up. I think Pike knows what he’s doing.
Things need to be looked in the context of running a marathon. What works in the short term might not help us for the long term.

Pikes only carrot and stick is PT. What wins games against Lehigh and Merrimack isn’t the same against Purdue or Maryland.

Our guys need to be programmed to what is necessary to win games in Jan, Feb and March. The programming starts well before the season and can’t get changed based on needing to beat Lehigh or Merrimack.

Steve has said on multiple occasions that it doesn’t matter to him who starts, but who finishes the game. Who finished the game today? Paul? Caleb?
That’s fine when you look at the actual minutes/time. The issue we have had by starting certain individuals is we get off to slow starts and play from behind. You can’t do that against B1G comp

It’s coming Zap. Pike giving vets opp to show what mins they merit.

It’s very clear to many who should start and who should be coming off the bench.

GO RU
I think Geo at the point handling the ball gets him into the flow of the game right away, and allows him to lead us.

I think its going to take a while for Pike to settle in on who is getting the bulk of the minutes. I expect it to change game to game for the first 10 games or so.
