Greg's presser at 1 p.m.

Vedral should be a go, depends on how he progresses this week.

"Noah really understands the offense by far the best, and by experience level, it drops."

What happened to that transfer, I think from Kansas, who supposedly does?
Joshua Youngblood from Kansas State. Good question. Beat reporters asked about kickoff and punt returns and who would do it (Young, Longerbeam, Long), but did not ask about Youngblood. However, Greg said he needed to talk to the ST coaches about who would do what.

What exactly is ‘our offense’ that Vedral understands ? Obviously coach-speak but absurd. We have a high school offense.
Damn good question.
There’s not a hell of a lot to understand given what we do.
This looking to the sideline twice, understanding the signals, and getting the play called correctly shouldn’t be that big a deal.

I’m worn out. Try to have a positive outlook on things week in and week out, year in and year out. But I’m worn out. The offense is less than anemic…almost pulseless. We need some playmakers to step up and make some plays. I’m sick of the excuse that we don’t have the players. Guys have to step up or step aside. Please play Gavin and at least try to make a couple plays this week. It’s on the road…no pressure to win…just put a stop to this **** already.

Youngblood had an injury. Thought he would be a big weapon this year given what he did last year.

I think he's referring to in action and presnap reads and the like.

Outside of 2005-2008, when has Rutgers ever used their talent well?

If you put LSU's wide receivers on this team, they would still suck, or they'd be running 3 yards downfield on 3rd and 6. Youngblood was involved in KSU's offense and returned punts, but he can't get on the field here? On a team that scores 3 points a game? It's not just Vedral... even when he has time the whole game plan is trash.

is Shameen Jones still on the team? Washington? Has anyone besides Bo caught a pass in 3 weeks?

Getting destroyed isn’t learning.
That's a pu$$y excuse. He enrolled early for a reason and GS agreed. They put him in a high pressure play where he could have easily got destroyed. They both made the decision so let him roll. Let's go already. His RS season is safe. The point is to get him reps now.

GS uses the phrases “gets us lined up correctly” and “in and out of the right play” frequently.
I’m sure theirs also pre-snap reads that determine where the ball is supposed to go also

If that’s what he meant then it’s an execution issue, not an ‘understanding the system’ issue.

Using a nerdy zoological analogy, in a vertebrate and intelligence complexity scale ranging from fish to primates, our system equates to fish.

I like Crook a lot
But he's not built to last long in super-sized football
I was looking at a pic of him last week and he reminded me of a Windsor Chair

Yes I could totally see him going in and getting roughed up enough to wonder why he came to RU. That portal might look good after a hard outing. I sense his mother carries a lot of weight and no telling which way that could go.

Even Brady chokes with a rush up the middle (as the Giants knew)

Pu$$y excuse? Just for my edification did you play D1 college football? Did you play college football at any level? Did you play a college sport?

Noah understands he can't rely on the OL to protect him and must move the ball anyway he can , while trying to keep from turning the ball over.
Against the top programs that's impossible and Vedral understands that and he doesn't lose confidence, just moves on from it and tries to move the chains again without going into a panic mode every-time he feels pressure.
Against the middle of road programs, Noah isn't a world beater but puts RU in a position to win because of his never give up attitude and the heart of a winner , though talent isn't the best, he makes do and keeps the RU O going, even if it's a slow-mo type that needs the D to bring home the win.

What is your point with this question? Freshman play all the time. So he's here early... So what. If he or the coaching staff were concerned about his safety they wouldn't have put him in for that one play and they shouldn't have even dressed him. They played him then so they should play him more now. 3 games left and RS status in tact. You can't sorta be pregnant.

Tell that to DeVonta Smith and his $32 mil guaranteed. They are the same size.

My point is you should have some comparable experience before you say it's a pu$$y excuse. It's real easy to be an internet tough guy, but it's an a$$hole move.

I'm not trying to get into an argument but I'm pretty sure the offense is way more complicated than you think. Even the seemingly limited playbook they actually use. This isn't pee wee league fb where you go where the play's drawing tells you to go. Take that plus a bunch of read and reactions to D players reactions, blocking and coverage schemes.

I saw a RU offensive playbook from like 25 years ago. I'm drawing a blank on which coach it was. I think it was the guy Walsh from the 49ers stuck us with. That playbook was over 400 pages thick - even simple pass plays had WR reads and reactions, QB reads and reactions, blocking reads - and if they weren't all made correctly the play fails.

Maybe the grey area is I think missed reads is a understanding issue and you think it's a execution issue. To me the execution is the physical move after the read. The actual block, catch, tackle or throw.

If you consider making the read is included in execution then we are only disagreeing about terminology.

Obviously , the kid isn’t ready for many reasons. He’s a high school kid and you want him to take a beating playing behind the worst line in the league

Lots of pre-draft debate centered on Smith's size. He was only 166lbs. A lot of people felt he was too small and in truth he is. But he's got a lot of talent so you roll the dice. Does he last five years? I would be surprised. But you can save mileage by sending him long and ahead of DBs You certainly don't want to throw across the middle to him too often. Even OBJ couldn't survive too long doing that
