Refs did the usual amount of home cooking that happens playing in the Big House and the Horse Shoe. Shouldn’t happen at all but it does, but that said it wasnt anything over the top IMO and not what cost us the game. If you want to cherry pick what could have won it for us:
1) make the extra point field goal
2) punt in the first half instead of going on 4th and 10 giving Michigan the free field goal
3) any of the first half drives on 3rd and 1, run Johnny Lagan instead of the trick plays. 2 of those, and then doing it on 4th and 2 instead of 3rd and 1 late in the game.

those plays flip the game, but we didn’t do any of that, and lost by a score. Happens !

There will be calls that go for and against you. When given an opportunity you need to make the most of it. We didn't.

We had 2 shots in the 4th quarter to tie the score. We whiffed. Missed opportunities.

We are close though while outmanned and outgunned. We won a moral victory in this game. Should look good for recruiting.

Give Schiano a few more years to reload the roster and depth with great players and we should go into these types of games as the favorite.

Right now we have to play with very few mistakes to win. The margin of error is small due to talent and size discrepancy.

I was VERY pleasantly surprised that against superior size and talent, our OL and DL did well enough.

That bodes well for our future.

That 4th and 1 trick play was the one that bothers me. Langan had converted a play for 3 yards earlier and they knew it was the play. They just couldn’t stop him. So why not just use Langan there?

Don't disagree with you. We pissed away some opportunities. But IMO that changed the whole tone of the game. We had all the momentum. We punch that in right there and they're reeling. It gave them a little life. But you're not wrong. We squandered a lot of opportunities as well.

Home cooking is a fact of life. Just have to deal with it.
We lost because of penalties of our own and not capitalizing on great opportunities.
Hate the result, but loved the effort.

BS call that took out Turner, but the defense responded and had a dominant second half without him. BS lack of PI which took what could have been 4 more points off the board, but we still lost by 7.

This is true. So we keep chopping away at the errors and eventually we will start winning these big games. That’s what we control.

Watch it in slow morion and you can see how bad of a non-call it was.. defender's arm fully extended. Cruickshank with a full step on him... jersey clearly being pulled.. and it was in the endzone.. one what would have been a TD catch.

Calls don't get much easier than that.

IIRC, we'd go on to miss that FG... that's the game right there... or at least a shot at OT

Turner's mistake was lowering his head. That gets called today all the time. Even if I am one of the people who thinks the qb should wear a pink jersey the way they are protected, .

Now we were screwed. That is in no small way, because it is better for the conference if the ranked team wins. We will swim upstream with calls until we win games like today. The DPI in the end zone was the worst one, of many bad calls. Have to chop through it, life is not fair!

But in all likelihood? What would the odds say to a 1st down at the 2? Would you think the odds of a TD are better than that of a missed FG.. which is what we got? Would the odds of a TD been better than that of a turnover.. of which we have ZERO on the season?

(yeah, I am not counting the Vedral fumble which happened later in desperation time... besides, he took a forearm to the back of the head after he fumbled and before the ball was recovered.. that should have been flagged.. especially when reviewing the play.. defenseless player.. clear forearm to the head)

Nobody could possibly speak accurately for all the many individuals who comprise those two fanbases. But more to the point, so what if people do or do not give the refs a pass? How does either thing benefit fans, or anybody else, in any way?

I can ask you the same about fans. We have people here complaining that Rutgers fans complain about refs.. that it is not "big time". I'd argue that "big time" fans would.. and do.. complain about such things too.

Besides.. what does NOT complaining about missed calls do?

The Ref makes that obvious PI call in the endzone and we end up scoring.. makes things even more interesting, no? Why should a fan NOT recognize that and talk about that?
