Yeah cause there was never a cancelled game prior to 2020.

Can we just admit there was massive flooding in the area surrounding the stadium and the possibility of postponing the game should be considered?
That guy's not interested in in any facts. He's got some rigid ideological nonsense to regurgitate and he'll be damned if any facts are gonna get in the way.

And those flood waters in that top pic are not going to abate by tonight.

Obviously neither is that road going to be fixed. And I imagine there is more road damage out there.

They might play this game tonight, but no chance will there be fans there.

The problem is it's not up to Rutgers. They need to talk to the Big Ten and the BTN execs. They're showing two volleyball matches tomorrow night so those are fairly "bumpable" for a football game. MSU/Northwestern is on ESPN at 9 so.... 6:30 PM tomorrow makes sense IMO.

BTN has overflow channels

How much concession $$ will Rutgers lose by not having fans there? Calculate how much they will gain by pushing the game and offer Temple half of it to do so.
GS is not thinking about the money. He cares about the brand. It’s like opening day for a play or movie. You want all the pomp and circumstance. We are back is the message. Empty stadium would suck.

Three gorgeous days in a row coming up. Things should be looking a lot more calm and relaxed by tomorrow evening. All those tailgating grounds will be a lot drier also.

Sorry guys, was having trouble posting the photos.

Top is of course NB this morning.

The bottom photo is Bartle Court off Cedar Lane in Highland Park (look it up on Google maps and you'll see the small stream), this is the apartment complex I grew up in and the worst flooding I've ever seen there...

Point being, it may be a gorgeous day out but localized impacts are everywhere.

Soggy tailgating grounds are the least of the concerns, things will only be more passable once the rivers crest and recede in the next 24-48 hours

Game needs to be moved. Whether it’s televised on a major venue or not. Playing it without fans would be a travesty if that was the decision. You can always watch it on later on TV if recorded. You can only watch it live once. Too much hype built up for the die hards who attend in person. You need to make sure they are happy first.

Let's just play two tomorrow
I'm not sure tomorrow is enough time to solve some of the problems that could lead to a postponement today. Not sure Saturday is either.

I hate to say it, but if they can safely play the game without fans today, that might be the wisest solution. Which sucks for those of us who've been so excited to tailgate and go to the game. But there are more important things than tailgating and watching an RUFB game.

Not many more important things, of course. But one or two.

I'd have no issue with Friday or Saturday, but I can see how that would suck for many who planned on tonight and might not be able to make those dates. I'd also have zero issue getting to the game, but those depending on River Rd/18 would. I wonder if they'd consider having everyone park at the RAC and other unflooded lots and bus people over to the stadium, since the roads appear to be fine outside of 18/RR in the stadium area (as per Google Maps).

I didn't say otherwise. I was pointing out an incentive to create what he wants.

Sure. 40,000 people, just wait here for a few minutes in this 5 mile long line and we will have you bussed over in just a few short hours.

FWIW - At the risk of divulging premium info - a poster on the RT says game is off for tonight per “his source”.

You'll be playing with a reduced crowd either way as many made weekend plans after the game was moved to Thursday.

I think one of the problems that'd need to be solved is how to get all the necessary detours mapped out, then marked out w/signage, so people unfamiliar with the area can get to their lots along routes they've never travelled. I actually think the lots are probably fine, for the most part. Getting people to the lots, and staffing the lots with EMTs and cops and so forth, looks like it's the biggest problem at the moment.

And also there's the uncertainty about how bad things will get w/the Raritan. It's bad already from photos we've seen. Just gonna get worse as the day progresses.
