Well they're calling their impressive electric crossover the Mustang Mach-e....The Maverick was a car.
Why not just reuse the Ranger name. Considering that’s exactly what this “new” vehicle looks like.

They already have the new Ranger, which is now a Midsize truck, nearly as big as the F150. I have one in my driveway. The Maverick was a car.

I agree that Maverick seems like a weird name since it was a car.
Maybe they should have revived the Sport-Trac name, or the Ranchero (it is car-based, like those were).
My first car was a Maverick and I've been trying for 46 years to forget it. This thread doesn't help. The Maverick car is long gone and barely anyone remembers it. The new truck is entry level, so it fine to reuse it. Waiting for the Pinto.
Because there's already a Ranger.The Maverick was a car.

A friend had the same experience - his was "bile" green. He bought it under duress but we still give him grief about it. It's a bad name to resurrect. My first car was a Maverick and I've been trying for 46 years to forget it. This thread doesn't help.
I was really hoping for more of a Maverick pickup car. But the fact people are saying it looks like a Ranger is a testament to Ford's design. A $20K small pickup that drives more like a car but still looks like a truck? That's a win.Because there's already a Ranger.

They should have gone with Ranchero, which was based on the Torino--and the Torino GT with the 351 Cleveland engine was a beast.
They should offer faux wood paneling!!!

We have put in a reservation for a Maverick, but avoiding the hybrid with the CVT transmission. Going for the Ecoboost 8 speed Turbo engine for extra towing power.
Hell yeah. I swear I just saw an editorial headline about bringing back the woody wagon this month, but I can't seem to find it. Sounds like a Jalopnik piece.I love the wood look by the way.

Yes to both.A friend had the same experience - his was "bile" green. He bought it under duress but we still give him grief about it. It's a bad name to resurrect.

Mavericks came with gramaphone, not a CD player!!Guys, not to make us feel old, but no one under 40 has ever heard of the Maverick car lol
The other nice thing about the Maverick (if you can get over the name and are OK with the size) is you can get a top of the line Lariat for $35-38K. That's not bad. F-150's run quite a lot and the Rangers are not inexpensive either in the top of the line.Exactly, the new Maverick is a unibody truck (like the Honda Ridgeline). It is not full framed like my F150, it is too small for my liking but I am sure it will fill a niche market.
Because there's already a Ranger.

We owned a mint green 1962 Falcon through the 1990's that sat unused in our drive-in basement. The early Ranchero's were Falcon-based.
One is featured in the James Bond move: Goldfinger. It goes into the crusher with a mobster's body in it.
Yes, I believe so. And these can change, but my understanding is the hybrid will not come in AWD, which was another deal killer for me. I'm fine with the Ecoboost engine with more towing power.Knightshift, the hybrid is the standard on the base model, correct ?
Get a bed extender. Fits in the hitch receiver and would let you carry the long kayak. If my 2012 Chevy Colorado showed any signs of nearing the end and I didn’t have a 12 and a half foot kayak, I would buy one tomorrow. That $20,000 price is going to attract A LOT of buyers who want a truck, but don’t need a huge one and won’t spend $40,000 and up. Last year, I was getting my free oil change at the Chevy dealer and they had a Silverado with a zillion options and it was like $55,000. Unless somebody can write that off as a business expense, that pushes a lot of folks away.
The Maverick will have a feature where the gate will lock at 45 degrees, which will allow 4X8' sheets of plywood and drywall to be loaded into the truck bed. There will also be multiple tie downs. Unless the Kayak is enormous, most normal kayaks should fit in and be secured.Get a bed extender. Fits in the hitch receiver and would let you carry the long kayak.
I use one to carry Kayak's and longer lumber with the 5 ft bed on my ranger, and previously with the 4 ft bed I had on my old sport-trak. Much easier than using a roof-top rack.
Bed Extender
Saw one on the road, for the first time, earlier today. Looked nice.Anyone own one of the new ones here?
We're about to find about that. But I think you're probably correct about Jeep losing sales in favor of the new Bronco. Depends on the quality/reliability of the new Bronco, I guess.I think Ford did a great job here. Much better than Land Rover with the Defender. They also solved the Jeep problem with removable doors. Jeep is about to lose a lot of sales.
nearest chase bank branchPeople think silly things when in HS! LOL.Anyone remember the old Subaru Brat with the seats in the bed? A buddy of ours had one in high school. We all thought it was the coolest thing back then.
I had a Suzuki Samarai. We packed 8 people into it once. Had a short somewhere so we used to push start it all the time.fond memories of cruising with buddies in a Geo Tracker down the shore thinking we were the ****

There are 2 levels of Bronco. The one you are seeing is the small version. The big one is not out yet.i have seen several Broncos on the street over the past few weeks. I was a huge fan based on the pictures, but was really underwhelmed in person. Looked much smaller and cheaper than I had expected. Maybe it will grow on me, but initial reaction was one of disappointment.
Just because you couldn’t fit in it isn’t a reason to hate.People think silly things when in HS! LOL.
