I suppose McCaffrey is a good coach. Although I am really not sure.

His strong teams have always had an offensive focus with several true playmakers. Unless someone unknown emerges, he’s not lined up to have this next season. From what I observed, Murray did not demonstrate playmaking ability, but rather, he’s a guy who capitalized well on strong basketball IQ as a frosh. That doesn’t mean he can’t or won’t be a playmaker, it’s more that he didn’t try to be one last year - so the jury is entirely still out on what he’ll look like next season. In my opinion (and I’m sure soho will disagree), healthy frosh Caleb (who also had pretty good basketball IQ) would’ve put up similar, if not better numbers playing alongside Garza, Wiescamp and Fredrick. Instead, frosh Caleb was asked to come in as the only back up PG on a team that couldn’t shoot. He’s not a shooter either, make no mistake. But neither is Murray. He simply benefitted from many open looks that likely won’t be there next season unless a lot of new guys step in.

On paper it looks like for Iowa to succeed it has a different personality than a typical Iowa team. Iowa will need to defend better than it has in the past because it can't rely on a 1.15 PPG offense to outscore.

Yup. But they still have Bohannon so you understand my reservations….
