I’m not buying it. Seems like Myles is having a hard time dealing with his disappointment at not being in the NBA.
That could definitely be part of it too but seems like Seton Hall has some sketchy injury diagnosis with Powell’s “concision “as well

This cannot be good for SHU. Willard and Powell always seemed so close. I am shocked that the concussion Myles got in our game with SHU is not mentioned. I felt that the SHU medical and coaching staff should have realized soon that he was not right. I do think the fact that Myles did not make the NBA or get a large contract has caused this to take place.

Didnt Powell recently state that Willard was a “Father Figure “ to him?

I fear trouble in the fuselage- Frederick !

IF any school or entity ever withheld known medical information on the proper diagnosis of a player injury to be more severe then reported in order to keep a player participating to remain competitive , then the school would be in deep do-do.

As much as the Hall is a hated rival, I seriously doubt they would have ever done that ...as that’s termination time for all involved if that happened and major negligence and liability suit for the school

the question is at hand is more likely a case of the question of misdiagnosis and malpractice ...a question of negligence that the courts and lawyers can sort through .

Unless it’s true , the reality is Willard and other being accused there may have to counter sue for defamation and libel to protect their image and integrity. You don’t make accusations like that without some serious evidence to back it up , and sour grapes isn’t enough reason without real evidence that what was accused did happen

that is some SERIOUS allegations being thrown around here and this is ugly

trying to remember their reaction to the Mike Rice/Murdock thing. pretty sure they didn't shed tears, so neither will I

However this smells like BS. Seriously boys/kids/men--STOP thinking you're going to be in the NBA. You're NOT. It isn't happening. Almost no one makes it.

Powell was a STELLAR player--one of the best. As good he was in college he's not an NBA player. He's not big or quick enough to play the 2 in the NBA and hes definitely not a PG. Who thought he'd be 1st round???? anyone?

it says in suit that he was a potential lottery pick?? in what universe was that going happen???

I'll laugh at their misfortune as they did with ours but this is nonsense.

Frivolous or not, they won’t use Powell in recruiting any more and it will hurt them

He was never an nba player. I was loud about that here and some said I was crazy for saying that lol. People dont realize how hard it is to make the league.

Powell was an average ball handler.

Willard designed their offense his senior year to put MP in the best position possible to be drafted.

He was quicker his sophomore season and he seemed to lose foot speed, but he was a gamer in college.

This is a horrid ordeal for Seton Hall.

I don't think the "whether he would've been a 1st rounder" is up for discussion....the major problem is two-fold.

A) Powell has essentially fractured his relationship with SHU....and even if SHU and Willard were at fault, fans are going to turn on Powell and defend the program.

B) How does Willard resolve this if it just turns into accusations of poor care or negligence at a program level?? Just because Powell appears desperate or could be 100% correct, if other players start cracking and chatting about improper care or other nonsense, you now have a program related item, which is much more than a few dollars that SHU can (or should have) just quietly settled with Powell for.

I think Rutgers took out an insurance policy on Brian Leonard for his senior year.

Even if he can show negligence or intentional misleading on the part of Willard/SHU (which is a high bar), Powel will have a hard time proving damages. He has to show that the reason he wasn't selected in the draft was concern about his injury and not his height and other normal factors. He can possibly find friendly NBA recruiting experts to testify. And then SHU would get counter experts.

Most likely this is a law suit that was filed with the expectation that it would be settled out of court. SHU will pay him to stop embarrassing them in the press.

Not good for SHU. Sad end of the story for Powell.

It's all good for us though! :)

Time to be a broken record and get on a soap box.

It would be nice if there was a minor league system where the NBA spent some money and took risk and similar to baseball had a legitimate minor league and a scouting team.

Assuming something that shouldn't be assumed...Seton Hall shouldn't be stuck in a grey area like this. Schools are going to have to start getting kids to sign waivers to play on injuries. If a guy is worried about damaging his economic value there needs to be a pro league where a NBA franchise pays it.

I would never want to be a college basketball coach or administrator in this day and age. These kids and their handlers are out for every bit they can get And will stop at nothing to get it
Very true. But still.....LOL to Shoe.

Powell should do well playing overseas. The NBA was never guaranteed for him.

Agree that SHU should make a financial settlement with Powell. But this is a big PR hit for them.

Powell's lawyers.... Alan C. Milstein (Temple Law '83, MA from Kansas, BA from Maryland) and Jeffrey P. Resnick (Widener Law '95, BA from Rutgers)

Here's the complaint if anyone is interested.
