Will be interesting to see which athletes are able to monetize their NIL better - bball or fball?

Presume fball since kids can’t be one and done…

Very few of these kids will make any sort of money in their own. But my concern is will the boosters prop up certain players/programs by buying as another, legal bag man style move and use that as recruiting to say “our players make $5k/mo” vs at RU nobody will buy your stuff.

Hit 20 pts. And I’ll buy 1000 shirts. Perfect, pay for play legal scheme. This is going to be a sh*t show of epic proportions.

How is this different from how things are now?

it’s illegal now which deters large scale organization and probably deters many wealthy alumni from getting involved .

of course many schools / boosters do it now , but the volume and brazenness of it would explode

Of course that will be the bulk of the money these kids make.

If the shirt said punch me it might sell for $33……and Jordan would have to model it first.

maybe that idea has already been taken

Only 5 players can play at a time on each team and there is a scholarship limit. In terms of disparity between haves and have nots I don’t see it being that big of an issue for Rutgers. The blue bloods will continue to line up the best players possible.

Of course they will. Kentucky and Duke can now legally pay players? It's over Johnnie.

I think a common misconception is on expectations. Lots of these players would probably be content making some spending money so they can go out to restaurants and buy some new clothes like any other college kid might. I don’t think many athletes are looking to get rich off NIL

This could be the case on June 28, 2021. When others are making money and one's likeness is quantifiable that all changes. When the 7th man on Minnesota is making $64,000 and you are in the starting lineup for Rutgers you are not content with the $5,000 contract you have from Nelligan Sports to do 3-4 random peaking engagements per month.

Idk man, basketball culture is as toxic as it gets. It’s a culture where a man making close to $1 billion dollars is telling people hes hunted every day and is oppressed.
