Have any of you seen a player with so much talent who is always getting hurt? This guy just cannot stay on the field. Imagine if he played football. Hed get injured on every play

Griffey, Penny hardaway, Grant Hill, Brandon Roy, Bo Jackson, Tony Boselli, Mark Prior. Happens more often than you think

The other thing about Judge is that a lot of people think that he's a young player. Here's a list of some guys who are YOUNGER than Judge.
Bryce Harper, Manny Machado, Mike Trout (by a few months), Mookie Betts

If he needs 2 days off here and there to keep him healthy for the whole season I have absolutely no problem with that. A lot of people here act like they have any idea what it’s like to be 6’7” 280 lbs playing a professional baseball game every day.

As a Reds fan, you are correct. When healthy Eric Davis was one of the best all around players I have ever seen. Just couldn’t stay healthy.
Still remember Ray Knight clocking Davis at 3rd base. Straight right hand to the jaw.

Great fight

here's a whole analysis of the game - it was a wild game. Strawberry had been ejected earlier for arguing a called strike. Reds blew a lead with an outfield error. Davis was a pinch runner (for Pete Rose who as player-manager had a pinch hit single. He stole 2nd then 3rd. After the fight the Mets had McDowell and Orosco in the game at the same time, switching between outfield and pitcher. Davis definitely got the short end in that fight.

The operative word being game! Get up 6 days a week and lay block all day or pour and finish concrete or lug building materials around a job site all day in all types of weather just to keep your family fed then tell me about your poor sore side or lower body. Get your *** out there and play through it. Mantle was in constant pain and got taped up like a mummy most days to go out there.
In fairness to Judge this could just be Boone protecting an asset and not Judge's fault, I really hope that is the case.

And if anyone says they pay players too much to risk sending them out there and getting hurt, then here is a tip: Stop paying them so much.

That's a ridiculous statement. When healthy, Judge is better than your inflated perception of Eric Davis.
If you look at stats Judge is better but if you're starting a team and you can have either one in their prime Davis is the hands down choice.

2018: Judge played in 112/162 games (69%) He was DH in 20 games. He had 183 fielding chances in 2018
2019: Judge played in 102/162 games (63%) He was DH in 10 games. He had 184 fielding chances in 2019
2020: Judge played in 28/60 games (47%) He was DH in 3 games. He had 46 fielding chances in 2020

On average, Judge averaged less than 2 fielding chances for game.
He sits on the bench for half the game while Yankees are on offense. The other half of the game he stands in right field waiting for a ball to come to him.
Rough life to make $10.18 million/year.

2 days here and there have not kept him healthy since his rookie year. When they sign contracts, they are based on full seasons, right? Time to start prorating salaries of players who want to rest.

Thats alot of muscle mass. Almost like he could be on...noooo. Not on the Yankees.

I actually can't argue strongly against that. Davis was an outstanding outfielder and a true double threat (power and speed on the bases). Not to mention a proven winner in the postseason.

Judge is a better power hitter, better at getting on base, a better run producer, and is not a subpar outfielder (in fact, he has an elite arm). But these are all purely statistical measures.

Please do not put Davis and Judge in the same sentence. Judge sucks compared to Davis
I actually did not put them in the same sentence, nor did I offer my opinion on the relative merits of one to the other. But, the idea that they could not be spoken of in the same sentence is ridiculous.

In my life, I can't think of a more injury prone MLB star than Davis. He never played more than 135 games.

Someone like Griffey had many years over 150 games while in his 20s in Seattle. Bo Jackson, with his football related problems, is a unique case. Only thing I'll say about him is his insistence on playing both sports diminished his productivity in each sport.

Hold on there. Baseball is one of the least physically demanding sports played.

Well Mantle didn't exactly take care of himself during his career.

Like I implied earlier. Fat has never been a reason to not be able to play baseball.

Right, Mantle never played every game, not even close. So what if Judge misses a couple of
games a month that is 12 games.

Tell that to the Yankees trainer the last 2-3 years. They've had a full team of former All-Stars on the Injured list at or near the same time.

These guys work out, unlike during the days of Mantle and Rose, and they often suffer from muscle injuries. Wanna be a stronger and faster athlete and play a sport that notoriously crosses three seasons- you're going to see a lot of pulls and strains.

Judge did make the right sport decision. In high school he was a in demand 4 🌟 tight end recruit. No way he stays healthy to make the NFL.

Dude if you think baseball is physically demanding (SP and C excepted) I don't know what to tell you.

Dude, you want to focus on "physically demanding" whatever the hell that means. No one is saying baseball is tantamount to wrestling or playing a soccer match. To think that someone is making that argument is too moronic to warrant debate.

It is a quick twitch sport that stresses muscles, joints, and ligaments in all sorts of weather and it leads to injuries, regardless of whether it meets your definition of "physically demanding".

To crystallize it for you, one is better off not working out and muscling up to hit home runs. Better to be built like Ruth than Giancarlo Stanton, if you want to avoid injury.

Mantle did play more than 140 games 12 times. To be fair to Judge- he has played in 3 full seasons. He has been over 140 once and if you pro rate last year- again, wouldn’t be close. So, one of four years.
