I'm thinking about buyinbg the Bowflex 552 adjustable dumbbells for my home gym. Anyone have them? Are there easy to use? Are they well constructed?
No personal experience, but considering the stellar reviews on Amazon and Dick's, would definitely consider them. The main issue if you look at the videos and pictures is that for the light weights, the plates on the ends are spread out at the end. We have Power Blocks and another brand, and they both have their limitations, but overall, we are happy with them.I'm thinking about buyinbg the Bowflex 552 adjustable dumbbells for my home gym. What didn't you like about them?we had them used 1x and sold them and use dumbbells. They are abit gimmicky IMHO
I love them. Great for space saving and not at all cheap feeling. Only issue is they can be a little wide so things like curls can be awkward. I modified by doing one arm at a time. Also, they are not a substitute for kettle bell type stuff were you’d be swing them around.I'm thinking about buyinbg the Bowflex 552 adjustable dumbbells for my home gym. Anyone have them? Real men don't drop their dumbells to the floor. They let them down under resistance.I've been using the Bowflex 1090's for 15 years. They work awesome and the 1090's go from 10 - 90 pounds as opposed to the 552's which go to 50lbs or so. It is so easy to twist the dial and pull up the weight.
Only 2 negatives to them. You can't drop them on the floor when benching like with traditional dumbbells. You want to gently drop them. Also, they are wider than traditional dumbbells. I have a whole gym at my house and they are used everyday when training.
I used to lift 1.5 hours a day, 5- 6 days a week in gyms so I can tell you from experience that these dumb bells are worth it.

Send the 16 yo's GF---for my son!!! There are a couple of turkeys that hang out at the paved bike path on Hospital Rd on Corson's farm. Trails may be a bit wet for riding, but going to try to get a rid in on the other side of Allaire near Brisbane.I'll send the 16 year old after you. Or the turkey that has been roaming our neighborhood for the last week or so. Miss you man!![]()

Oh great. Thanks Dio. I am a bit reticent about the 552's because they only go up to 55 lbs. The prices you mention- is that for a single or a pair?I've been using the Bowflex 1090's for 15 years. Also, they used to go on sale 4 times a years. I believe I paid $380 for them on sale when they usually went for $600. You go to Bowflex's website and sign up for notifications and they send you info when they are on sale.
I've got them. In exchange for their wider-than-usual length, I like how much space they save in my limited home gym area. I got the dedicated stand that works with them to prop them up off the floor securely. I would recommend getting that stand if you go for the dumbbells.
$600 a pair. They are $300 each. But sign up at their site and when they go on sale pick them up when you get the email that they are going on sale. I love them and since they go up to 90lbs they allow me to bench with them. You don't have to worry about collars slipping off like I used to with my other dumbbells,Oh great. Thanks Dio.
