Not a miss....nice to have.....not a need position......you take him and figure it out if he comes here, but you cannot "not" offer a Swider.....the best fit for him is Cuse, in a zone defense, where he's not asked to play man defense......he left Nova because he needs a better fit and system and Cuse is the best fit for his game.

Pikiell was pushing hard for him. It's a miss.

We can debate how much it matters in the long run, but we do need to start actually getting some of our targets.

Best fit for him — zone will definitely help mask some of his defensive/athletic deficiencies

Cuse is gonna have a hell of a crop of shooters next year but will likely be one of the most slow-footed teams in the country. Will be interesting to see how it plays out

As much as I wanted him, I thought myself that he should go to Cuse. Better fit for sure for him. Wish him luck.

Where has it been reported we pushed hard for him? All I have seen is we reached out to his HS coach.

there was a tweet from a recruiting reporter that said we and Syracuse were Recruiting him the hardest.

Everything Sojo posts is going to be framed as a negative so while we wanted him, “another miss” is projected as negative. Plenty of other players out there.

Huge win by Pike big victory i
re-recruiting Mathis. Huge for us

Getting anything positive from that guy Sojo about Pikiell is like pulling teeth.

How many guys Pikiell is going after decided to go elsewhere? Yet that guy adds, "Another miss". Lol

Haven't we heard this now 2 years in a row on Mathis.....it's like "almost being pregnant".........no one is irreplaceable with 1200 kids in the portal....no one is a must have or miss with 1200 kids in the portal.

There's nothing wrong with pursuing a player who you recruited out of HS and from a talent rich NEPSAC, where dozens of kids go national each and every year. Two years in a row, RU is a winning product and doing so in a competitive B1G.....ignoring that and focusing on "a miss" with Pike is so "on brand" for you....I don't know any coach that doesn't get every kid they target....

Bottom line is we are not closing on anyone and it’s concerning. Maryland landed two really good players and they were already good. Geo still up in the air? Let’s go already.

You just quoted a message praising Pike as you typed this.

No one is ignoring the bigger picture. We’re talking about a specific event.

A few guys are negative all the time. There is a long time before our roster will be locked up. Give it a rest already. I trust in Pikiell. Very few guys out of 1200 have committed to a new team at this point. It is just the first week in April. We didn't land Gettys until late in August.

I could understand if 100 kids were in the portal, but some of you get real.

We can only go by the names being reported on. It’s relevant to discuss targets coming off the board. Yea there are plenty of options in the portal but one would think the guys we offer and go after first are they priority at the time.

Its his thing man. He doesn't think Pike is a good coach and spends a lot of posts "framing" that a lot of different ways

And he'll throw the occasional compliment in to say he calls things down the middle

It is what it is with him

I said you throw an occasional compliment in there for exactly situations like this

Its all good

This is what you do, you say two things in your post and when someone calls you out on one that’s completely wrong you lean on the second comment for situations exactly like this

Dude...do we need to take a poll? Is Dave above doing the same thing? The entire board knows your take on Pike.

4 out of every 5 things you post is a critique of Pike. Its all good...I enjoy most of your analysis and takes...but this is your thing man.

Yet you got my take on Pike wrong right off the bat. In print. If you harp on the negative and ignore the positive comments that’s your prerogative but doesn’t make you right.

Part of the wanting to play here is the sales pitch.
Understood. If part of the sales pitch he didn’t like was, “We play tough man-to-man defense” then he won’t be a good fit and I don’t want him here. If he prefers to play zone then he landed at a better fit for himself.

Good fit for them----limited athlete with a nice stroke.

With Boeheim and Girard he's going to get looks and he's long enough to play in their zone.

Not sure he's a fit for Rutgers as he struggles to guard.

It’s strange that some responses in here are “I trust pike” (not relevant to the conversation anyway) but at the same time excuse not getting Swider because he’s not a fit while Pikiell prioritized him as a recruit.
