Now the bench
Jones 8 ppg
Mag 6 PPG
Palmquist 4 ppg
Miller 4 PPG

Totaling 79 PPG - which is probably about 5 pts more than we'll avg. But I think everyone will be within 2 pts of the prediction.

I don’t think you can predict this yet. Transfers will be going on or out until the summer. I also think there is no way Ron Harper is at the four again. It’s either going to be Rieber or a grad transfer starting.

Would love to get a 4 who can shoot the 3 that would change things dramatically !!

Considering that it is highly likely that more than one significant contributor on next year's team will come from the portal, this is almost impossible to do.

Bill Walton predicted 5 PAC12 teams in the Final 4. We have fans longing for a stretch 4, wanting Harrar to play the 4, and saying there is no way Harper should play the 4 next year.

This stretch 4 everyone wants is going to look a lot like Ron Harper. It is funny how all players not on our roster look so good and can do everything.

Take McConnell Mathis and Mulchahy about 1.5 pts down from that. And Harper down half a pt.

So now you're at 74 ppg.

The problem with Ron Harper at the stretch four is that he is NOT a stretch four - just not tall enough. With his skill set he is a better three. I'd actually like to see him slim down about ten pounds and just be a 3 next year.

The concept of a stretch 4 is really about the ability to get 4 guys on the court who are a threat everywhere on the court facing the basket. Ron defensive rebounds like a “4” and is better equipped to guard a “4” then a “3”.

the thought process is to get another player like Ron who helps out on the defensive glass. The Yeboah situation from 19-20 is the example. Yeboah and Harper were interchangeable. Harper DREB better. They were both 3.5s

There are 3 guys in the portal that could make up that scoring easy. The issue is how do these players impact other important areas

An average of 80 PPG seems a bit high.

Exactly.
I think people confuse "we could score 79pts in A game" with "we can average 79ppg over all games".

To average 79ppg we would have to score OVER 79 in half our games.
Last year we scored 79+ in 5 of 26 games (only 2 BIG10 games).

Same with the crazy "RHJ needs to average 20ppg" threads from this past season.

Last year we averaged 69.3ppg overall and finished 13th in the BIG 10 in ppg.

In the latter part of the season Rutgers was lucky to score 65 points a game. with Baker,Johnson and Young. The projections are too high.
Interesting and good comment because the announcers said the RU staff goal is to hold teams under 65 every game.

Not necessarily. Charles Oakley was a banger and definitely could pop out and shoot the 18 footer.
