Now the benchHere's my take on starters (with no transfers in):
Harper 18 PPG
McConnell 11 PPG
Mathis 10 PPG
Mulcahey 10 PPG
Cliff 8 PPG
Would love to get a 4 who can shoot the 3 that would change things dramatically !!I don’t think you can predict this yet. Transfers will be going on or out until the summer. I also think there is no way Ron Harper is at the four again. It’s either going to be Rieber or a grad transfer starting.
That’s a big ask. I’d settle for an above average defender and post player who can finish around the basket.Would love to get a 4 who can shoot the 3 that would change things dramatically !!

The problem with Ron Harper at the stretch four is that he is NOT a stretch four - just not tall enough. With his skill set he is a better three. I'd actually like to see him slim down about ten pounds and just be a 3 next year.Bill Walton predicted 5 PAC12 teams in the Final 4. We have fans longing for a stretch 4, wanting Harrar to play the 4, and saying there is no way Harper should play the 4 next year.
This stretch 4 everyone wants is going to look a lot like Ron Harper. It is funny how all players not on our roster look so good and can do everything.
The concept of a stretch 4 is really about the ability to get 4 guys on the court who are a threat everywhere on the court facing the basket. Ron defensive rebounds like a “4” and is better equipped to guard a “4” then a “3”.The problem with Ron Harper at the stretch four is that he is NOT a stretch four - just not tall enough. In the latter part of the season Rutgers was lucky to score 65 points a game. with Baker,Johnson and Young. The projections are too high.An average of 80 PPG seems a bit high.

Interesting and good comment because the announcers said the RU staff goal is to hold teams under 65 every game.In the latter part of the season Rutgers was lucky to score 65 points a game. with Baker,Johnson and Young. The projections are too high.
Not necessarily. Charles Oakley was a banger and definitely could pop out and shoot the 18 footer. The concept of a stretch 4 is really about the ability to get 4 guys on the court who are a threat everywhere on the court facing the basket. the thought process is to get another player like Ron who helps out on the defensive glass. The Yeboah situation from 19-20 is the example. Yeboah and Harper were interchangeable. Harper DREB better. They were both 3.5s
Charles Oakley is 50+ years okdNot necessarily. Charles Oakley was a banger and definitely could pop out and shoot the 18 footer.
Back in his Knicks days. Watched so many games in the late 80’s early 90’s.Charles Oakley is 50+ years okd
Back then teams had 1 or 2 players that would take 3s.Back in his Knicks days. Watched so many games in the late 80’s early 90’s.
Yeah, I didn't start with a whole team PPG and work backwards. I just tossed out what I thought each guy would avg. Then I realized 79 was a bit too high. But not that much.An average of 80 PPG seems a bit high.
