And there it is. The portal is now the solution for the blue bloods that would otherwise need to be reloading with multilateral “one and done” true freshmen.

Now Calipari can bring in one and dones as freshmen AND high performing upperclassmen through the portal.

Yay

Kinda like what Kentucky did last year with Oscar Tshiebwe, all Big 12 Conference performer from West Virginia and didn't sniff the Tournament. If you haven't noticed Kentucky's been relying on One-and-Dones combined with transfers for at least the past 3 seasons already. They send a bunch of players to the NBA and are always re-loading including using the Transfer Market. This year Calipiri does plan to hit the transfer market hard because of recruiting issues with the Class of 2021. But keep on thinking it's a Rutgers victim issue.

I don't think it would be much fun watching a team of one-and-dones, where every year you need to buy a program just to keep track of who your players are each year. It also calls into question the entire question of what constitutes a student-athlete. Reminds me of the SHU "hire an Aussie" strategy back in the late 1980s. I forget the guy's name but he showed up on campus in October and left in April after playing in the Final Four (IIRC). He never even completed one semester. That hardly qualifies as a student athlete.

I mean they brought in two big transfers this year (Sarr and Mintz) and still sucked
