we are on the old interest list...cant hurt. Even had an offer out there, but the list was deep (about 35 schools)Pretty sure B Knight tried to recruit him pretty hard the first time around. Not sure if that will mean anything in this day and age but thought I’d share...
Everybody else lists South Orange has his hometown, including UVA. That’s confusing. There is no way in heck that a Short Hills kid will go to Rutgers. Mommy and Daddy would never allow it.
His father is Sharif Abul Raheem - former NBA'er = hence Short HillsThere is no way in heck that a Short Hills kid will go to Rutgers. Mommy and Daddy would never allow it.
That's interesting. I wonder why he settled here. He is President of the NBA G League since 2018, so maybe that's the reason. His father is Sharif Abul Raheem - former NBA'er = hence Short Hills
Correct. NYC NBA offices. That's interesting. I wonder why he settled here. He is President of the NBA G League since 2018, so maybe that's the reason.
Clearly every coach in the country lost their team.Casey Morsell also in the portal. They lost three of their last six games including the upset by Ohio in the tournament. It's clear Tony Bennett has lost control of his team. Obviously there must have been some major locker room strife.

Does he have an outside shot (3 ball)? Can he rebound and play D ?
If so ...sign me up.

Former four-star Abdur-Rahim transfers to Georgia
On the remote chance you're not being facetious, perhaps a more detailed, if not biased, view of Bennett's program is in order. First, UVa did finish first in the ACC's regular season. Of those season ending losses, two of them were at FSU and at Duke. Against N C State, Tomas Woldentensae was unavailable. Also, after defeating Syracuse in its first ACC Tournament game, there was a positive test and the team went into quarantine. It didn't play anymore games in the tournament, and, over the next nine days prior to the Ohio loss, it had one practice. And, it showed. The usually reliable Sam Hauser was 1 for 8 from behind the arc. The team shot around 25% from three. Against ACC teams, that percentage was.391 for the year. Also, the transfers were regrettable, but they came from the end of the bench. Both McKoy and Morsell had been given lots of opportunities in their two years in the program, but neither had produced consistently. They are both great kids, and I think everyone is sad to see them go, but a change of some sort may help them grow. No one faults them for leaving. Jabri Abdur-Rahim was near the very end of the bench. In the total of eight games in which he appeared, his average playing time was under five minutes per game. Again, I don't believe anyone at Virginia wanted to see him leave, but he arrived in a bit of a perfect storm. He was injured during much of his senior year of high school. The pandemic eliminated all summertime events which included workouts with strength coach Mike Curtis and the various "team building" exercises typical of Coach Bennett. Fall practices were also constrained. UVa is very much a "systems" program, and the lack of practice time made it very difficult for Abdur-Rahim to learn the defense. Then, there was the fact that everyone on the team was living in modified isolation. It had to be incredibly frustrating for the true frosh. I am at a loss to explain why he would want to play for Crean, but it is what it is. Going forward: Coach Bennett replaced Morsell and McKoy with Armaan Franklin from Indiana and Jayden Gardner from ECU. We'll have to wait until November to see how well they fit, but everyone is hopeful. Also, Kadin Shedrick and Kody Stattmann both missed the overwhelming majority of the season with various ailments. It is anticipated that they will return. If Trey Murphy III decides to withdraw from the draft (an unlikely event), then Virginia should be very good next year. If not, the additions of Taine Murray and Igor Milicic offer some intriguing possibilities. Additionally, 2022 recruiting got off to a nice start with a commitment from Isaac McKneely In short, I don't think Coach Bennett has lost control in the least.
