What’s the point of playing these games? The defense played in those clips is embarrassing. That isn’t basketball.

Looks like he already shots 3’s OFF the dribble very well. HUGE.
Agreed. Everyone looks good on their highlight reel, but you can see making a turn off the dribble and hitting a smooth stroke tres is something that can translate to the next level. Definitely some stuff to work on (Does he play too "upright, and have a too long of a dribble? ) but I figure him to play a lot regardless of what happens to Geo and Jacob, who I expect will both leave.

It's 100% understandable and OK........you don't read everything I write. The NBA isn't basketball. I tried to watch the NBA Finals a few years ago and I couldn't make it through a quarter. I used to be able to name almost everyone on an NBA roster 25+ years ago.

Sane. I stopped watching as soon as the Knicks playoff run ended which is about the same time that, for me, the professional game really started becoming almost unwatchable

It is stupid. Players are ridiculously talented and unbelievable shooters. The game has become a clown show with so many 3s being attempted.

saw a ESPN article that was interesting. It said either teams have a cap on 3s attempted OR make them worth 2.5 points.

unfortunately the college game is creeping slowly towards the NBA game.

Interesting player that has some of the most upside in this recruiting class. Definitely could be an All Conference player and NBA prospect. Rn idk of his floor is high, cause there is very limited data and clips of him playing in high school and weaker frame. (Him being an early enrollee will hopefully help him get acclimated to the B1G system) Seemed to transfer multiple times to multiple different schools and get very little playing time. However, then he goes to these camps and workouts with some of the highest ranked recruits and scouts say he was the best player. Possibly didn’t feel the drive to play high school ball and is waiting for this opportunity to shine. Even tho there is limited footage, it is clear why he is scoured, a player with great measurements, an athlete, great shooter, can create his own shot and plays at his own tempo that usually is what can separate a decent player from a great player. Excited to see him play.

He needs to show more range on his long shooting. He is a shooting guard and will need to develop his 3-pt shot in college. to make an impact.

I am not alone in the feeling that 3 point shot attempts have gone too far. There are concerns that people are getting turned off by the amount of attempts.
Remember, he will be another year older, have 1 year in the strength and conditioning program, and more development. Will be a real good addition. And hopefully grow another 1-2 inches.

Remember he is supposed to be in high school right now and I believe is just 17 years old.

The complaint not long ago was that nobody was learning to shoot because everybody wanted to dunk. Now the complaint is that everybody wants to learn to shoot.

You may hate the NBA at this point, but college basketball is quickly catching up in this regard. With shooters approaching 40% accuracy as a benchmark from behind the arc it becomes simple math. It is much more efficient to putting effort into getting 3 points at 40% accuracy vs. 2 points at 50% accuracy.

The way to remedy this is not to change to some wacky rules such as limiting certain shots or changing the scoring system. They could for instance:
  • Revert the defensive hand-checking and landing space rules to allow for more effective man-on defense on the perimeter.
  • Extend the 3 point line and by doing so, eliminate the corner 3.
  • Widen the lane and make a better point of enforcing defensive 3 second violations to entice more interior offense/shots

You've hit on my biggest concern. Jaden looks great in these videos, but when playing against really tough defense, can he get open and make his shot under much greater pressure? That remains to be seen. But I'm optimistic and hopeful Jaden can be our next Quincy Douby. Hopefully he really wants a professional career and will continue to put in the work as he develops.

If Jaden Jones bulks up more along with Cliff (assuming Cliff remains a freshman), we may have one of the most intimidating freshman tandems in the country. 6’8 and can shoot/handle plus Cliff’s athleticism at 6’11. Future is bright!

Jaden is going to be amazing. That length ball handling and longgg range is something we have never had here really. He's almost like a taller longer slimmer Harper. He seems to find ways to get his shot off but my one concern is he doesn't look too explosive. His game is more smooth than explosive though which is fine. Not everyone is a fast twitch athlete and he has the extra time to get in the weight room. B1G things from Jaden are coming. Could be an all time great
