It was one of the most devastating losses in program history and we weren’t just flat out beaten... it was an epic choke job.

Any team at this level should be prepared for criticism... but after we all calm down we will look back proudly at this team

I see a bunch of has beens or never weres who are always critical of the players. This game hurts no doubt but both teams made mistakes. We built our lead on their mistakes and hitting 3’s. They won it on our mistakes and a lot of foul shots. Houston works hard. The refs helped them a little looking at the FT disparity.

I agree with many that this game should have been won but lets not overlook from where we came and where the program is right now. We are in a much better place and there is stability in both coaching and recruiting. The program has taken many steps forward with coach Pike and last night was a step back. Long term I am very optimistic about rutgers basketball. I think we will be taking many steps forwards again...very soon.

No true Rutgers fan is criticizing this team or coach.

I don't know who these knuckleheads are, but they are not Rutgers fans.

And I am hereby issuing a proclamation formally and officially revoking their ability to claim themselves as such. Take that block R off your car (which I doubt you even have) and take a hike.

A lot of turncoats on here after a tough loss. We were thrilled to be in it and win a game and now you guys are trashing the coach, geo, myles, ron. That is BS. Pike and these guys got us to two NCAA back to back in all reality. That is amazing.
Turncoats or telling it truthfully. Actually I did not see many trashing Pikiell, Baker, Harper, Johnson. You sound like a martyr .Winning a game is nice but giving a game away you owned is bad. One other thing and factual there was no NCAA last year. Can you remind us what seed we had in 2020?

I never agree with trashing college players, these are young men competing to the best of their abilities for your University, none of them are trying to lose, they make mistakes. As for the HC, he is paid good money and being second guessed comes with the territory. This wasn't just a tough loss as some describe it, this was a bad loss given the circumstances, the coach needs to be held up to a high level of scrutiny, but not trashed.

I don't think being able to recognize that the season was an overall success while being critical about last night's gag job are mutually exclusive.

In the words of Dennis Green: "They are who we thought they were...and we let 'em off the hook!!"

How can it be the most devastating loss in the programs history when we snapped a huge ncaa drought and ncaa tourney win drought in the same year. Do you even understand what you're saying?

I think people can vent after this loss, so give posters some time to get it out of their system

Short term its devastating, long term we will forget about given we made the 2nd round

it hurts because we are such great fans but everyone will get over this

Because there’s about a 50/50 chance it cost us a trip to the final 4. And it was a game where we suffered a choke of epic proportions. But like I said we will look back and be proud of this team.

We had way less than a 50/50 shot of making the final four. Probably like 10-15%.
You’re crazy. At most Sportsbook’s Houston is 50/50 to make it so maybe I exaggerated a bit. Since they are better than us we probably has a slightly lower chance than they have now

We beat Syracuse already and if we got by them we would’ve played either Oregon state or Loyola Chicago.

Houston will be heavily favored against Syracuse and favored against Loyola, 80% x 60% = 48%
We would've been a toss-up to slightly favored against Cuse and substantial dogs against Loyola, 50% x 25% = 12.5%

I disagree on the Loyola part. I think small underdogs against them. Houston is -6 against Cuse so I assume we would’ve been about -1 or 2

Under normal circumstances you are probably a swell guy, but right now you sound like a tool. Going out of your way to discredit last years team that clearly played themselves in, is just mind boggling to me. To actually spend time typing that on this message board today is something I don’t understand.

We were +7.5 vs Houston so if Syracuse is +6 that would imply we would actually have been 1.5 point underdogs against Syracuse. Maybe 0.5 or 1 since we would get a bump for having beaten Houston.

Loyola is harder to say but Kenpom would have us as 5-5.5 point dogs.

I’m not a tool and if you want to play douchebag hey I’m game. I stated only a fact . There was no NCAA tourney . Sure we would have made it but yet this is not like CYO or Biddy Ball where everyone gets a trophy . I asked him show us what our seed was in the 2020 season. BTW: I have supported the programs at Rutgers for more years then you are probably alive ... all sports. If you go back further than early 70’s then maybe not but I doubt it. See the problem is the be
ief that Rutgers has been a dynasty or bastion of athletics. We have been somewhat good in certain eras but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I’ll look for that 2020 NCAA banner as soon as we can walk inside the RAC.

My position:

For discussing the (now irrelevant) drought, there was no NCAAs last year thus the drought was still ongoing until this year. That seems obvious.

For evaluating the players and coaches, you have to give them credit for "making" the NCAAs last year.

The “not everyone gets a participation trophy” take does not work here. We were one of the 64 in to anyone with any sense. Not a bubble team. If you don’t understand that I can’t explain it to you regardless of how old you are. For the record I have gray hair too and I’ve been rooting for this team a long time, not sure what that has to do with anything.
No need to hang a banner for 2020 although I would have no issues with it. You seem like that would upset you which is confusing to me.

This team had zero ncaa experience outside of Jacob young. I'm surprised they beat clemson.

If you can show me the NCAA banner in the RAC with Rutgers MBB 2020 I’ll apologize. As I told you I have more time in the sh?$&?tter than you have ties to Rutgers Basketball - Football- Baseball . I think as much as you wish it so making it and playing in are is very different. This is year 1 after 30 misses. Sorry to break Gen x and Millennial hearts on this topic. Other schools would laugh at us for suggesting we made it in 2020. Only Rutgers would live in this world of fantasy.

Here’s the thing Arizona Knight this old man has no grey hair ( no die job either) can still touch my toes ... get around pretty well ... You would shat your pants if we held a lineup to pick out the old Rutgers man. Still 6’1” 203 Ibs this morning . Eat your heart out. Oh and I can still hit a baseball and shoot free throws something our MBB team needs to work on. Say hello to my bro in Arizona😊🪓🪓🪓🪓

No you are arrogant in defending something which isn’t relative to this season and you are like several others who think because we maybe would have been in the fact is if you can show me that seeding for 2020 I ‘ll apologize but you can’t . So not to argue with you but you didn’t like someone telling you that you are wrong.Tell that to some other alums and fans at other institutions . They will laugh you out of the room. You my friend are the real tool.
