Is any "expert" picking Clemson?

I honestly don't think I've seen one writer or talking head take Clemson against us and I think I've devoured every podcast, article, or TV show in the last 4 days. I've never seen such a consensus before. Clemson has so much bulletin board material it's crazy. Teams usually say "no one believed in us" and it's a b.s. Seems Clemson has a case this time and they're the higher seed.

People like picking the underdog because it makes them feel smart. This game is a coin flip so its easier for these guys to take the 10 seed and look smart if it comes through. They wouldn't get any credit for picking the 7 seed but they look dumb if the 7 seed loses.

There's never much difference between a 7 and 10. Don't think anyone would be getting that much credit for picking a 10 over 7 or look dumb if they picked a 7 and they lost.

There’s a reason we’re favored in Vegas. Clemson isn’t a 7-seed.

Hope you guys don't mind me responding in a respectful manner, just glad to be talking tournament hoops. Anyway, to your point, this is eerily similar to our last tournament appearance 3 years ago when we were the popular 5-12 upset vs New Mexico St. Hope it goes the same way this year because we embarrassed them and then beat the 4 seed Auburn by 35 in the 2nd round. Clemson basketball always seems to perform better when we're being doubted as opposed to the few times a decade where people start to jump on our bandwagon. This game is a coin flip to me and I figure just like in most basketball games the team that shoots it better will end up winning.

I certainly hope that some experts are picking Clemson and those are the only picks that Pike should be showing our team.

Hate to say it but will be surprised if we get the W. Clemson is a worthy opponent for us with many players who can score the ball.

And the SJW issues promoted by our players this week is a big negative.

Ask yourself if this game is a blowout, which side is RU on with that outcome?

Maybe they were looking at the early Rutgers games. The second half of the season certainly should not be giving anyone all that confidence.

You're totally welcome to comment here. We like engaging with other fanbases, as we've got one of the ten most-active boards in the country. What you guys have pulled off in football is absolutely amazing, so kudos to you and your university for getting it right. As for basketball, this game is most likely going to be ugly. Neither team is especially good offensively and both like to bang on defense. I agree that it comes down to who shoots better, but also the team that turns it over less. We have a tendency of forcing the action on offense and throwing the ball away, especially near the rim. But if we make 6+ 3's it will change how you have to guard us and we'll get inside for easy buckets. I imagine the same thing is true for you, so it's anyone's guess who wins this.

Back when I ran a small old school pool at work, we would give extra points = to the difference in seeding if you picked the upset correctly. It gave people more incentive to stray from the usual picks. I wouldn’t go crazy with them but stick to 10-7 and 11-6 because they usually weren’t big stretches.

Let's face it, baring bad matchups based on players and style of play, the 7-10 and 8-9 games are typically pretty even matchups unless the committee has really screwed up. Even the 6-11 and many of the 5-12 matchups are often quite close, with the lower seed winning a significant amount of time. That said, being a 10 seed is actually a better spot than being an 8 or 9 seed.

We have played our best when underdogs and worst when favored. I don't like how this is playing out leading up to the game.

It’s very simple IMO if Harper makes threes we will win. If he doesn’t we will lose.

It worries me that so few ‘experts’ are picking us to lose. This team has already shown a propensity for believing their positive press. I would 1000% prefer that all the ‘experts’ were picking us to lose.
