About time for another Exit 109 roll call...

Think you're thinking about Mike from West Orange, who was a WRSU sports guy and then regular on KnightLine in the 80s (as was I, until the internet days), who was very knowledgable, but complained about EVERYTHING. He moved to Vegas and became MikefromLV and then disappeared. No idea if he has some other name now.
I also go all the back to the 109, and the boards before that. Originally went

I remember the article when OO declared he was coming here from out of the country, and he supposedly was the best player in the world, in his grade
Even then I thought RU could never get that lucky. And we did not of course
He had trouble gaining entry to the states, or being allowed to by his country

Yeah, Mike Fasano, John Otterstedt and Keith Burkert (the author of the history of rutgersfan.com article I linked above in a recent post of mine) are Rutgers internet legends.
Good-Knight - Jellyman posts once in awhile on TOS (and is still alive - anyone recall the fake news that he had died? I had to ask my wife, who graduated from HS with him to check he was still ok, lol), but Norm even left the Grease Truck eventually and I don't think has been heard from much. No idea where LCP/RAC104 went. Some other oldtimers still post on the GreaseTruck, like @LeapinLou, Bump86, FatCatSPK and some others I'm sure I'm forgetting. And we've lost a few stalwarts, like rtw and CalRU66 and I'm sure a few others. It's always been an interesting place.
Shawn Pastor ran Owl Scoop. Nice guy. Met him a few times. In a completely unrelated turn of events, our wives became friends.
Quick story:
Mike Fasano asked for voIunteers to provide content and I said I would write the preview for the RU @Pitt game being played on 10/17/98 since I was going. (Sidebar - I "met" Mike from MD on the board and we met up outside Pitt Stadium. That was my one and only Internet blind date, lol.)
Anyway, I wrote a preview of what would have to happen for Rutgers to win. Everything went exactly as I predicted and RU won the game 25-21. I retired on top and never contributed content to a Rutgers site ever again. Ironically, since then, I have never been right on a prediction.

Never knew that, but pretty cool... That was actually the first RU game I ever attended as a kid. A few years later, after GS got hired but before the season started, started posting on the old "Rutgersfan" under the same name I use today...
Was just going to say, this thread and a few others the past few days have had me thinking... I hope CalRU66 is looking down smiling.

Nice! I went to most of those rutgersfan tailgates - remember the nametags? - but not in any of those pics. That was back when I only had 2 tickets and I'd bring my wife and young son (born in 94) to a few games a year and then most of the time couldn't find anyone for the 2nd ticket, especially after I'd bring them to a game and they'd see a pathetic blowout, lol. Didn't get another taker until Greg's 2nd year, when a buddy of mine (a PSU fan), who was just a huge college football fan started coming with me and bringing his RU-grad girlfriend, so I went to 4 tix in 2002. And then up to 12 in 2006.
Need to find the pic of you and me leading the crowd in singing Born To Run at Jackson's after Zowie gave us the mic. Now that was a fun day!

Absolutely. The homage to Greasy Tony's, the awesome reception with the team, then the NUTS party (Gringo's?) was great the night before and Jackson's was just unreal and then, despite the loss, the RU crowd at that game was off-the-charts loud - it's what we would be Friday night if not for COVID - decades of pent up fan fury spilling out of all of us.

Mike was a complainer. Even when something good would happen, which wasn't often, he would still see the glass half empty.
I was an Exit 109 member in the the nineties. My subscription to tos started in 2001. I presume that was when Exit 109 ended.
I had a job in Elton, Md and was a weekend commuter to Somerville. Exit 109 was a great way to keep up with the Rutgers sports news on my 8088 computer.
