Yes, PM’s 3s were huge last night, but I’m hoping they give Paul the confidence to let it rip going forward. If Paul can add that dimension to the team where he’s not afraid to shoot the three ball it outs this team in a whole new place. Let’s go Paul.

Paul will have that shot regularly until he proves he can hit it with enough consistency. His whole offseason should be dedicated to 3 point shooting and he will be a deadly upperclassman for us

I’m a little perplexed at the reaction here. Paul went 2 of 6 from 3. He shot a worse percentage last night than he has all year. He was 37+% from 3 going into the game.
How MANY 3s he took (we want this) was more due to Geo and Young getting penetration and Paul being wide open more than usual.
We were in Indy and watched warm ups, as the team were crossing to her to their respective PM ran right through the IU team, only one to do so, I think just to piss them off, love a guy like that on your team, hate a guy like that on opponent...
Agreed, but he already has the highest 3-point FG shooting % on RU this season - a stat that often gets overlooked because of his hesitancy to shoot.
Paul’s development is going to tell the story of this program post geo/jy. I see no reason why he can’t average 12+ ppg next season. Need him to be the guy.
Mulcahy isn’t the most physically gifted, but he’s a gamer, has a great basketball IQ and always seems to give it his all.
If he can improve his shooting and start draining those open looks on a consistent basis, it will really open up things for him (as well as everyone else on the court).
Also would like to see him start using his body to draw contact on those layups and get to the line - his shots are too easy to block when he tries to twirl it in.
Hoping for a big leap in his game next year - gonna need it.

Been saying mulcahy isn't this bad shooter everyone tried to make him out to be. Knocking down set wide open 3's is something he has clearly worked on and it's paying off

How was it there? How many Rutgers fans and what was the atmosphere like? Kinda weird I’m guessing. Although they were cheering against us it was great to finally here an actual crowd reaction again
For the first third of the season Rutgers was shooting awesome, They were loose and playing with confidence and a #11 ranking. Then came the losing streak and since that point they have been shooting with hesitancy and missing. I am hoping last nights win will spur our guys to play like they did the first third of the season.
What I was getting at is that I just want Paul to shoot more. There are many times he gets the ball and is wide open but he never pulls the trigger. Hoping that last nights game makes him chuck more shots up.
Good shooters can hit the three when defense is coming at them with hands up.Paul cannot hit a three when even remotely guarded.As open as he has been < 50% not that great.Those were clutch last night, but grand canyon wide open.Hopefully summer practice will help that along with improviing mid range & drive ability.His intangibles will make him even more valuable next year with the likely loss of Geo & Jacob

100%. If Paul takes and hits the outside shoot [frankly don’t care if for 2 or 3 pts] it will continue to open the middle of the floor up for drives and feeding the ball into Myles. We will have four players (Ron, Geo, Jacob and Paul) or perhaps five (w Montez) that will shoot when open or drive to the basket. That’s huge and makes a difference in whether a team advances late in the season.
Really happy for Paul because him being confident to shoot really opens up his game and do what he does really well which is seeing the whole floor and passing to the open team mate who is in position to score.

Not very many RU fans, we were loud but kind of too far away, only time it felt like a “normal” game was when IU made their run in the second half, it was like a small town home game. When they began to miss FTs the IU fans reacted a lot like this board, at the end they all were calling for Archies head. Was fun, heading back tonight

but there are particular players that head straight for the basket as soon as they get the ball and don't give him a thought. This last game
it appeared to me, it may now be starting to change.
He can hit that shot, but he usually hesitates with the shot then launches it. I think that throughs him off. It weighs on some players after missing one or 2. You have to have a short memory and not let it affect your game. I think early misses affected Harper also. It looks like he may be coming out of it lately though.
Paul needs to use the off hand on his drives to the basket too. I have seen him make a layup with his left hand so I know that he could do it. He got blocked from behind twice last night when he was trying to lay it in with his right hand. Jackson-Davis could not have gone over him enough to reach his left hand had he used it.
I love PM. And while it's possible that his game will take a big jump, and we all hope it does, I don't think in any way the team needs to bank on that. I think it's more important for us to get Montez Mathis back to his 2020/2019 form than it is for PM to make a big leap. Or for RHJ and Myles Johnson to jump up to First Team all conference. Or Cliff to develop into an impact player. We have a lot of players that are capable of making big leaps, or who are playing worse than we've seen them at their peak. We also have two talented freshmen coming in, one of whom is a gifted scorer. I think if PM can take the steps people are asking for he could be an all Big Ten honorable mention. But we have a lot of players that can step up.
I think part of it is that he usually passes up the open looks or takes the ball down and drives without attempting a shot. He had disappeared a a viable offensive thread for 2 thirds of the season. He does not need to be a volume shooter, but teams need to know that he is willing and capable or they can just double down at will knowing that if the ball pops back out to him that they don't have to worry as long as someone runs at him.
His shooting stroke is almost identical to Rob Hodgeson...who end up Shooting a fairly high three point percentage in the later part of his career ....
