Easy to cast the first stone. Pike has been here 5 years and a winning conference record just once too .
I will be sad to see Ricky go because we have had success against him .
Archie too.

Pitino isn't that bad. But he was handed a program in pretty good shape and didn't do much with it. Not a disaster, but not what Minny was hoping for.

Pike, on the other hand, was handed maybe the biggest dumpster fire in D1 and turned it around stunningly in four years.
Right. The question now is what is pike’s ceiling.

Jerry Carino has repeatedly called him the worst coach in the conference, so I’ll take his word. Usually when he harps on something, he’s right. The other good example is him continually calling Indiana soft all season

And according to Indiana fans Archie is gone

can’t compare Minnesota and Rutgers. Pikiell had a much bigger up hill battle.

that being said Minnesota has never been great and pitino has been decent. The question is how many coaches do you want churn through andhow much do you want to pay a guy to be decent.

saw that he was potentially trying to get New Mexico.

They lost players from last year. I didn't think this was suppose to be a NCAA year for them. Careful what you wish for.

you really think he takes an assistant gig at Iona? He will get another job in P5. Maybe at the lower end of the Pac-12 or SEC, but he is still a HC

I can see him at another lower tier P5 or solid bubble type school.

He will be the next New Mexico coach or an A-10 coach. Ed Cooley is going nowhere. Providence is very happy with him.

It's got to be tough to recruit to Minn.

It's all about expectations. Our bar was so low, we were happy with an above 500 record overall. Then we wanted a tourney bid, now we want an above 500 record in conference and will expect to go to the tourney every year. After all 66 teams get invited. It has been fun riding the process to where we are now, but i know my expectations have been raised. We have a great gym, we have the APC, we're in the largest media market in the country and we're surrounded by tons of talented players. We almost had to try and miss the tourney for 30 years. Mind boggling that it's been that long. I don't see any reason we shouldn't finish in the top half of the B1G 70+% of the time. For as great as the last two seasons have been, we finished 8th last year and 7th this year. that's where my bar is. Is that unrealistic? Major college hoops is a messy business. If you don't want to get dirty, the ceiling isn't that high. You can't hope that every Geo, ranked at 400+, turns into a very good player.

Like Schiano has said, it's easier to climb the mountain, than to stay on top of that mountain.

I actually that Richard did a decent job at Minnesota this season. I got to respect him more this season as well as he never seemed to feel sorry for himself. I think he will do fine if he is let go.

No comparison. Do you have a short memory? Remember Eddie Jordan? Remember losing to Purdue to 100 pts? Remember the empty RAC?

Jordan , yes he was going to heal the program. Great hire this board said .
Of course minnesota is a comparison . We are in the same league . If we don’t compare ourselves to big ten teams , who wonder compare too ??
