Only game of RU interest today. Semi-final game against Elon (top CAA team was knocked off so 4 is playing 8 to get to the finals).

Not sure if a Hofstra auto bid would help us, but it sure wouldn’t hurt (they did beat Richmond which certainly wouldn’t be bad to come up in the seeding conversations with RU being discussed relative to the A-10 teams)

JMU choked in the CAA Quarters, opening the door for either Hofstra or Northeastern to win the CAA.

It looks better for RU to have wins against other tourny teams, if Hofstra earns it, FDU or Sacred Heart got one, just like if Cuse gets an at large or the auto bid for the ACC.. Record against other NCAA bids is a metric for seeding.

Go Pride!

Oh we certainly are not “worrying” here. There won’t be a CAA bid stealer.

You always root for your OOC opponents to do well though. In a year where we only played 4 OOC games total, this year it is an even bigger deal.

We played them. They also beat Richmond at lost @ SB by 8 points - 1-1 vs two of the better teams in the A-10.

By no means are they great, but look, there is a difference between a Q3 and a Q4 game. Q3 teams at least have a pulse and you’d have to hope that if we happen to get lucky and a Q3 team we played makes the field this distinction would be indirectly observed in our favor during seeding.

The top 60 teams in the NET lost a total of 2 games to Q4 schools. Yes - exactly 2. The same group of teams lost 30 Q3 games. Think about that difference. Racking up 10+ Q4 wins really means nothing at all. We played 2 Q4 games and blew out both teams. Big deal.

Not sure what happened to Hofstra ...but they were the preseason favorites to get to the NCAA

It’s always good to get another win “against the field” ...especially because in early February we had wins against the probably field ...(which ended up being four wins) against Minnesota and Indiana ....that won’t materialize....

Correct..even if Hofstra isn't all that great. Its another win against a projected tournament team to consider on the profile

I'm old enough to remember when we played Elon I believe in the late 90's at the RAC.

I don't remember who won

20 year anniversary of Mulcahy's botched attempt to pry Jay Wright away from Hofstra before the Villanova job could be opened

I googled game and we beat Elon 89-78 on 12/18/99.

I believe that was Bannon's first year so Billet; Hodgson; Earl Johnson; Eric Clark; Jeff Greer were on that squad.

Hope Drexel makes the Dance tonight. They have a drought similar to ours. Their last Tourney appearance was 1995.
