Let’s try it another way. Take your RU fandom out of the equation, which job would you take right now if pay was equal:

1. Who has better facilities?
2. Who has a bigger budget for assistants and support staff?
3. Who has a more fertile recruiting area?
4. Who enjoys more fan support?
5. Which conference do your prefer and have a chance to compete in?

maybe you do feel BC is better in the above listed areas.

Apples and oranges. They are not power 5.
Nobody doubts that we have have made tremendous strides in basketball infrastructure as well as on the court. And at this point in time we are doing better. But looking at this holistically BC is not some no name school with no success at any time in history - and I must remind you all again that they still have made the NCAA ten times since 1992....andwe’ve made it ZERO. Most casual fans are going to be more familiar with the BC name than Rutgers. They will end up with someone decent. I do agree the ACC hasn’t been a good fit for them.

It doesn’t matter at all. Being in the ACC with Syracuse AND Notre Dame kills any and all appeal of choosing Boston College. If you want Catholic ball in the ACC ND is the better choice. Brand name in the NE - your picking Syracuse. There is no appeal left to going there. RU is the complete opposite. In the old BE, the appeal was there for Tri-State kids to play at any school in the conference and get tons of games in front of friends and family. And the BE tourney every year at the Garden. They didn’t need to choose to RU. Now RU is the only major conference school left that offers that perk. In terms of talent, I suppose the BE is still an option but Xavier, Butler, and Creighton just don’t have the same market appeal as the old BE with Syracuse, WVU, and ND. Not close.

BC is finally making a commitment to hoops.
A new Basketball facility is in the works and I believe the administrators are finally on board to making a commitment to hoops. It's been a long time coming. With new facilities and a commitment to hoops, hopefully BC will attract a good coach. There's a lot of local talent and quite frankly I don't care where the recruits come from as long at they can play and are tough kids. You never know what happens. Glad you guys are experiencing success!

Sounds like the right approach. Focusing on local kids who want to stay in the Boston area. Good luck to you guys. I didn’t mean anything negative by my post but I do think the current dynamics of the ACC vs BC’s situation before being in the ACC with Cuse and ND make for a more challenging recruiting message for the broader area than previously.

If you are shopping for a job today, why would you compare BC today to RU years ago? BC is not a more desirable job in today's market.

We won 15 games last season-----wasn't a terrible year and he had Final 8 runs in 2015 and 2016 which have built him enough equity to get the 2022 season .

We're not a place that really cares about hoops that much and while it likely isn't as tough a job as BC it's close.

Gates to BC might be something we might see.
His wife is a senior associate athletic director at BC and the school might have been looking at him closely once they decided to let Christian go.
But he's probably a long-shot because of last year's record.
This year the Vikings are proving to be a good team, but it's only the 2nd year Dennis has been the Vikings HC. and his first HC job.

I don't think Maryland will be looking for a new coach next year. With a team of a lot of four-year seniors and quality big coming in, I think they will be good next year and nobody will mess with that...

My list of open jobs is after next season. Not this. Gates is not getting BC. He would not even be in the conversation if his wife was not there. He has zero chance. I can easily see Willard at either ND or Maryland after next season. He is a very hot commodity in the search firm world. I actually think that Turgeon could step down voluntarily after next season. The job has left lots of wear and tear.

Always have enjoyed your posts and glad you are back posting. But I don't see how you can compare the BC job today compared to the clusterf--k time before Pike was hired. There is just no comparison. The BC job today is better than the RU Job was five years ago.

No one wanted it last go around. Sure 1.6 million will attract some interest,but it,like PSU will pay the least in Conference.I have been to the RAC 1000 times. I went to Law School at BC. Rutgers towers over BC in hoops.

Reports are that BC is willing to pay the next HC up to $3.25 mill. We’ll see.

They don't have a quality big coming in. They also need to address their lack of a point guard.

BC basketball might be better off in the Big East, but they are never leaving the ACC for it because of football and $$$.

RU job/program today is better than BC job/program today. I would not trade our fortunes over next five years for theirs.

It’s a P-5 job in a fabulous town.
Get an up and comer and live with the fact if he has any success at all, he’ll be gone to a more lucrative job.
The years in Boston would be nice for a young coach.
Obviously they aren’t getting any coach with multiple options.

I'm a dinosaur and watch the Boston local ABC affiliate sports news report each evening. Since hoops resumed the BC Basketball team has been mentioned twice on air. When they had to shut down for COVID outbreak and when the coach was fired.
Growing up in the NYC media market I would have never guessed there would be a more disinterested audience for college sports. I was wrong.

Dinosaur also. Family moved up there when I was a young'n and couldn't get any of the kids in the neighborhood to play hoops. It was street hockey, all day, every day.

BC might prove to be a good place for an up & coming coach , if they commit to supporting their Men's Basketball Program
Right now it's a place that will attract those up and comers that are just below the ones top programs go after.
Being a P-5 program and in the ACC should get them someone that's considered a pretty good get.
But the good gets might hold off for something better if BC's AD checks out if they are interest in taking the BC HC position.
