Was coming home here in Manchester just after 5:00 and roads were freezing. Almost broke my neck stepping out of my truck onto the driveway. Everything was freezing fast. Love snow, not a fan of freezing rain.

I didn't get anything yesterday, which I was happy about.
I think parts of South Jersey got a little freezing rain.

But. What should we expect the next few days?

I am concerned about accumulating ice.
Sussex is at significant risk of a significant icing event Monday night/Tuesday, as is much of the area along/north of 78, as per the maps below. Not that much of a risk along/SE of 95, except for N of 78 (i.e., Union County/NYC and north), but still time for that to change. NWS discussion of the icing risk is below. Thursday could be a thump of heavy snow for most, followed by sleet, freezing rain and then rain for most, as warm air moves in.

National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ
649 AM EST Sun Feb 14 2021

Going with the consensus, an impactful icing event looks likely
across the Lehigh Valley into northwestern New Jersey, basically
along and north of I-78 where up to a quarter inch of ice is
possible. Trended with a lower bias in this forecast as well with
the NAM/NAM Nest being quite bullish with up to a half inch of ice
across this region. A brief period of heavy snow is also possible
before the transition to sleet and freezing rain occurs, with up to
3 inches possible in the Poconos. Given the deterministic forecast
for snow and freezing rain remaining below Winter Storm Warning
criteria and the fact that a Winter Weather Advisory remains in
effect for this areas attm, opted not to issue a Winter Storm Watch
at this Time. A Winter Weather Advisory will be needed to account
for the freezing rain at the very least once the current headlines
are allowed to expire.

This ice is a huge concern: the better half is supposed to be working on Monday and Tuesday, don't know her hours yet.

Yes, 1-3" from SE to NW - see my post on thundersnow in Galveston in the real thread on this event. :>)
Sorry, I must have missed the part where I was asking you. I was asking a person who lives in Texas.

Did Houston get snow? They're even more ill-prepared than San Antonio.
They did...and SA is frankly as ill-prepared as Houston. They’ve had snow more recently than SA actually...every big highway has these huge on and off roller coast like ramps...so most roads are just closed. Tonight everything ices over so tomorrow AM should be a mess (albeit sunny!)

Spoke to a friend outside Houston earlier this AM. Ice, snow, 19 degrees, and no electricity. They were waiting it out sitting by the fireplace.
That's insane! We complain up here when the temp goes into the teens. How do those folks deal with it?

What I remember about being in Houston was that the residential furnaces were just not beefy enough to handle prolonged deep cold.

And I guess I missed the part where only people who are quoted are allowed to reply to questions. Perhaps I need remedial TKR board etiquette training. šŸ˜‰

Sounds like it. We'll send someone to collect you and escort you to the proper reeducation camp.

Yep, I remember what highway construction was like down there. A lot of elevated roadways too, which makes the situation even worse. Once the sun hits the right angle everything should thaw quickly.

Definitely no ice on the roads tonight when I picked up the better half. I did have to scrape a bit off the windows, but other than that, nothing.

Got called by the public schools at 5:51 to let us know they were open as normal. This definitely didn't materialize.
