Watching the NW - Indiana game prior to our game on Wednesday, NW just didn't want to win. They had so many opportunities to put Indiana away both in RT and in the first OT. I got the sense that they were resigning themselves for an L when they had the lead coming down the stretch. If Rutgers loses to NW at the RAC, I will be highly discouraged.

its all about mindset, if this team disrespects Northwestern by coming out flat, this game will be a heart attack inducing one. Remember after the big lead last time, RU let up a 18-3 run, i dont think it never got closer than 5 but this game was too close for comfort given RU's 20 point lead to start at 31-1-1. You have to earn wins, NW has lost 10 in a row but they see RU as an opportunity where they can steal one

and remember a worse Northwestern waltzed into a packed RAC last year and went up 18 before a furious RU comeback.

Yeah, that's exactly why Geo and RHJ need to have their legs and urgency from the tip off.

They cannot expect to just show up and win on talent alone.

This won't be a close game. Rutgers will be focused and show the talent difference in this one. This might be the game Mathis gets back on track

Won’t be a close one? I’ll wait to be convinced. This team is no where as good as we thought at beginning of season. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen the December team.

It can easily be a close game.
We can easily lose (and in fact will lose ~25% of the time)
It would obviously be nice to win, but a loss does not destroy the season
Northwestern, though not great, is much better than they were last year.

A loss would be pretty devastating and put pressure back on RU.

NW isn’t likely to shoot 20% from 3 again. RU easily could. I’ll be really disappointed if we have 18 turnovers against them again though. I hate how close they’ve been in the last few and fallen short. Have to figure they will find a way to win one of these eventually. Somehow we have make sure it’s not our game tomorrow.

With six games remaining Northwestern and Nebraska should be viewed as the easiest to win.A loss to either of these two teams should be viewed as a bad loss and will make achieving 10 B1G wins far more difficult. This isn't the time for excuses but rather the time for Rutgers to step up and win four out of the last six games of which three are at the RAC.

A home loss to NW will ruin the season

Can't let it happen

It will not. We have at least 7 more games and we need to win 3 of them to make the tournament. We will likely be favored in 5 of them (projected to play Michigan St. in the first round of the BTT currently). We can afford to lose.

That said, I certainly hope we don't lose.

You think they will magically go on a run after losing to NW?

Just go out there tomorrow and take care of but pike they should.

If Rutgers was going 1-19 in league this year, this is the game that should be the win. We have to think in terms of an 11-9 regular season and a 6 or 7 seed for the tournament. That means show up and take care of business tomorrow.

If Rutgers plays hard tomorrow, they win easily. If they're not mentally into it, an upset is almost likely

Go pick up your drink of choice early afternoon before the snow and ice roll into the region.

I have a 6 of Yuengling Black & Tans chillin in the fridge, tempting to crack one open now, but I'll save them for game time

I'm picking up a sub later, will be ready to go for the 5pm tip-off

But your alcohol of choice is required to calm the nerves or Rutgers Nation later this evening

These are the games that we need to win to justify the 6 Seed that most brecketokogist are assigning us...

i don't agree.

At 9-9 there is a good chance we end up 9th in the league. The league is not getting 10 teams in so as the 9th place team with a .500 conference record, we need at least 1 win in the BTT to da

Hmm yes I remember you were making these completely unsupported proclamations last year about how many teams the league would get in.

Also it's hard to finish 9-9 in 20 games.

Also if we finish 10-10 and that ends up being 9th place we would be multiple games ahead of the 10th place team. So even by your lologic we would be in?

Go look at the teams in the standings around Rutgers and you'll see that is nearly impossible. In fact, if Rutgers wins at least two more games, they are in as Bac said.

As much as I hate to agree with Lou I really find it hard to think that if we finish 2-5 with wins over Northwestern and Nebraska that we would be in, much less a lock.
