Good for him. I have not heard much from RHS since RHJ has been at RU.

Lou he has to use discretion which I give him a ton of credit for. We don’t need a dad like Mr Ball. I’m sure he makes his opinions known but without being an *** about it. I think he’s a good guy and being a good dad. Gotta be tough for him because when I often saw him at the games, he still looks like he could walk into the floor and school damn near every player out there.

I'm not saying he should be a loud mouth parent. I actually think he has been extraordinarily quiet. This is the first public comment I have seen from him, and it wasn't about his own son. Actually kind of classy but I am glad he made his opinion heard in this case.

It is a fact in a B1G game as this one was you let them play. Quite what we all expected from the refs but it still was not the reason we lost.Garza is allowed to use elbows , push offs, hacking and yet no fouls. Something that the team has to really understand. You are not getting any calls especially away from home. You have to mentally and physically beat them.

Garza also got away with moving picks all game.

Like many, probably, I missed the first 10 or so minutes of the 1st half (NW choking to Indy in 2OT!) so I didn't see the first 2 so-called fouls on Myles. I did catch the crap 3rd call on the Garzo floppo. Any clips available of the first 2 "fouls" on Myles? Also how did the 2 quick fouls on Cliff look?

I saw the second one (I think) and no matter what anyone says it was legit. Myles put both of his hands on the guys back and shoved him on the rebound.
The thing that still bothers me is that a guy can commit manslaughter on a kid driving to the basket and not call anything but they'll call an illegal screen 35 feet from the basket.

Can anyone tell me how much time elapsed between the second and third foul and was Pike trying to get Myles out of the game before it happened?

He sat for a while in between the 2nd and 3rd fouls. He came back partially because Cliff picked up 2 and Douc picked up 1

I wouldn’t say “blasted” but anyone who says refs do not affect the game are lying to themselves or just saying it to be argumentative. Sure we do dumb things and miss foul shots but that is what players should do. They should be the ones deciding the game not the refs.

All we ask for is for the officials to call an even game. if they want to call it tight, great. call it tight both ways. If they want the game to be physical then fine call it both ways. Myles’ 1st and 3rd fouls could have easily been no calls yet they were not. Then Iowa didn’t seem to have any calls go against them at all in the first half.

I know the refs can decide what fouls to call because there were two instances in second half where the refs swallowed their whistle for Myles. So most ignorant posters who think refs do not affect the game will say “see they could have fouled him out but they didn’t.” Yeah exactly they knew they f*cked up in first half so they tried to make up for it in the 2nd so they could say it was an even game. The problem is it was too little too late. Myles already sat pretty much the entire first half. The damage was done.

Thank you Mr. Harper. Thank You Mr. Bardow. Hello coach?

people’s fascination with pikiell attacking the refs truly amazes me. Do you guys realize that pikiell being a good guy helps us in the long run. The reason why Rutgers gets good publicity is because pikiell is a good guy and people like him. Not saying that yelling at the refs make you a bad guy but pikiell doesn’t operate that way.

Do you think the league doesn’t know that the refs were bad? if I am not mistaken pikiell can pick a couple fouls and bring it to the league and ***** and complain behind closed doors.

When you f*ck up at work would you rather that come through a company wide email or your boss just call you into his office? Pikiell is lot trying to embarrass anyone.
there is a right and wrong way to do business. Pikiell chooses to not be a d*ck. Everyone hates d*cks.

This isn't a job at IBM , Goldman Sachs, or Facebook. Every game is a project that you win or lose. On TV. Rutgers is getting good publicity because a program that has SUCKED for decades is finally performing. Not just cause he is good guy. Having a team of great kids is a positive benefit. That's why a RHJ and Baker can tweet strong opinions and be respected. You think Pike getting a T and standing up for his players is "attacking" the refs? So dramatic. Pike has (maybe) ONE T in his entire B1G coaching career. ONE! Getting a T once in forever is not attacking the refs.

Iowa has one of the biggest "dicks" for coaches and is getting plenty of positive PR and respect. Hear anybody talking about Fran this year?

If you think the league is so aware of the issues even brought out by the announcers ..especially the ones called on Myles then you missed the last game.

BTW, here's a good quick read for you since you asked for an example of getting a t and changing the game.

Here's another one:
Ultimately, it was fouls (called correctly or not) that did the Illini in for their second loss of the year.

“The fouling was just ridiculous,” Underwood said.

If I'm not mistaken Underwood and Illinois are also getting some pretty good Pub this year?

You are right it is not a desk job. however the same rules apply. You can be a dick or not. and for the most part not being a dick has helped pikiel and his teams over the past 5 years. Fran is a douche but iowa is actually a really good team. We are a borderline top 30 team and people have said we can make a run to the final 4. Imagine that, someone saying rutgers could make a run to the final four this year. If pikiell was a c*cksucker i assure you that would not be the case.

For some reason you think pikiell doesnt complain to refs. he is always talking to the refs. Why does he need to get a T? You know who cries and screams when they dont get their way? My 2 year old. I would prefer the man who is the face of our program, making 1.6M per year, responsible for the growth and development of young men not act like a 2 year old.

The best part of all of this is we want pikiell to get a T complaining about fouls on myles johnson when no other player in the conference has this problem and myles has been in foul trouble since the day he stepped on campus. Myles fouls so much i think he picked up a couple during his redshirt year. Again i think some are ticky tak but we need to look in the mirror a little here.

Thank you for the example but i think the article missed a really really really important piece of information. Illinois lost. If the T did help it took about 5 minutes to actually take affect.

I should have warned the RU faithful - and now I’m too late. You’ve been “Big Ten’d”. What is that, you ask? That means that as soon as Rutgers has a team that threatens the established powers in basketball or football, you will be consistently on the wrong end of hideously biased calls or non-calls. We PSU alums and fans have suffered through this in football ever since we joined this conference in 1993. Phantom pass interference, obvious in-bounds catches called out of bounds, TDS called back, video review breakdown on an obviously bad call, you name it. We threatened the only 2 schools that the Big Ten cares about in football - UM and OSU, so we have to be punished.

now, RU has a very good hoops team - you’re a threat - you must be kept down. Thus, what you saw at Iowa. And with the obvious improvement in your football team - you will become a threat. When deemed one, you wait and see what those referines and ref-eyes call and don’t call.

I apologize for not warning you sooner - this conference is great for your financial bottom line - but it is a favoritism- laden corrupt establishment network. Look how they changed the rules for Ohio State on both the Fields transfer/immediate eligibility AND the games needed to play in the Big Ten title game - you think they would have done that for any other school ( other than UM, of course)?

Besides the moving picks which drive me nuts how many times did he travel also and camp out in the 3 point lane

He travels almost every time he gets the ball near the basket. Officials let him do it with impunity. It's so frustrating. Iowa is the one team in the Big Ten I will root against in the tournament and can't wait until he has to face a non-Big Ten crew. Given that they started the season #3, they've been a huge disappointment, despite the advantages he is given every game.

Well you just had your 2nd group of announcers the other night calling out the fouls on Myles. He's a Jr. this is not his frosh year. One has nothing to do with the other. And nobody ever said Pike doesn't talk to the refs. And you don't need to act like a dick or a 2 year old to get a T.

You're entitled to your preference. So is the group of us that think he is not defending his team enough and letting us get abused at times. See OSU and now Iowa.

Consider the PSU coach be a NG fined for criticizing refs. They were 0-5, averaging 20+ PFs in big ten play... Then he gets fined.. Then the whistles favored PSU against Rutgers and for at least 2 more victories... How does that happen?

RHS is 110% right about the officiating.

But, the team should stop with the poor me reactions to calls.

Accept the calls and play ball.

It is solely up to Pike to address the officials.

I think the 'beef' most RU fans have is that Garza/others do the SAME FKNG THING and dont get called for it. that's the point. it's like holding in football...99% of the time you can understand the ref calling it, cause it happens on every play. it's the lack of consistency that's infuriating.

the first foul on Iowa was called at the 9:50 mark in the game...think about that for a second.
