Read this about the cylinder rule and you'll learn why the refs called it the way they did:Amen.
Admittedly I missed most of the first half due to IND/NW and then got so annoyed with the box itself (i.e. Myles fouls), I don't even know anything about the Weiscamp play you are referring to. Then in the second half when I finally found the stomach to turn it on, I mean no more than 3 seconds after I do, I see PM take a swinging elbow from Garza and they give PM the foul. Jokers (refs) then proceed to do nothing, Garza gets an immediate 3 for his efforts, and I see Pike with his arms folded on the sideline.
Like most stuff, it's subject to interpretation in real-time by the refs. But the point here is that just because somebody is hit in the face with a swinging elbow, it doesn't mean that it's not a foul by the player who got hit.
Pike understands the rules. Most people don't. And while I'm sure he didn't like the call, he knows the call by the refs was perfectly within the rules. No amount of hysterics from the sideline would've helped at that particular point.
I personally thought PM hadn't invaded the cylinder, and the foul shouldn't have been called on him. But then I also know for a fact that I'm highly biased towards RU and it's impossible for me to not see it, at least somewhat, the way I want to see it.
