May be a coincidence but Bardo's diatribe against the refs regarding Rutgers getting bad calls and especially Johnson seems to have caused a huge positive turnaround on how they call fouls on Myles. I've watched closely, as i'm sure many of you have, but there are many calls that would of been called against him that they are letting go. Most of them appropriately so, but even some where you look at it and say.............oooooh, ok that was a foul on Myles......but no call. And what has all this done..........caused Myles defense to go into the stratosphere. His defense is absolutely game changing right now. It disrupts the entire flow of the other teams offense. It's been impressive to witness. Bardo gets at minimum a nice Christmas card from me next year!

I was annoyed last week to see some feature on top big men in the conference and Myles was not in the top five. He was listed as honorable mention. I think he is 2nd or maybe 3rd behind Garza and possibly Cockburn. Robbins is better on O because of his shooting but Myles is so much better on D despite a few more blocks on the year. Trevion Williams is not the difference maker on D that Myles is. I have not seem the Michigan guy enough to comment on him.

I couldn't believe they didn't call a foul on him against Carr there. They loveee to call those types of fouls on him. Bardo doing what Pike should have done a longggg time ago. Myles should have all the refs respect at this point
It carries a lot more weight when its not the head coach, who may have a reason to be a bit biased.

About damn time. Honestly don’t think it’s far fetched to say he’s plausibly a top 3 defensive center in all of college basketball
Agree. When you really look at it, how good does a center have to play defensively to be better then Myles right now?? Absolutely in that top handful of best defensive centers. Very few defensive players can truly disrupt an entire offense. That is what Myles is doing right now. Only other Rutgers center since i've been watching since 1985 that is in that same kind of ballpark was Hamaday N'Diaye and what makes Myles even better then N'Diaye is his ability to steal the ball and with his great hands grab it and make an excellent pass off that steal. This is what also puts him in that upper tier defensively in college basketball IMHO.

Bardo is free to say what he believes. Pike would be fined and might sit a few games if he spoke his mind about the refs.

Bardo payed refs in general in Indiana Illinois game the oher day.

I suspect he cut a deal, he won't rag on the refs and the league office will cut a tape of egregious calls on Myles

Right now, Myles is probably the best or the top 3 in the B1G on defense. The reason why he only got an honorable mention and not part of the top 5 is because he's not known as a real offensive threat. If he could score more like he did tonight, then yes, he would be put in that category.

Also, as for Bardo getting credit for saying what he said, you're right everyone, it's about time. But I could also tell you that behind the scenes others have voiced their complaints loud and clear to the B1G commissioner and that is why you're seeing Myles get more of a fair shake. Everyone in the league saw that abomination of the Bo Boroski crew that totally screwed Myles and Rutgers against OSU in their first meeting when we were kicking the crap out of OSU. Those horrible calls against Myles where he fouled out with more than 8:30 left in the game caused us from winning comfortably to losing that game.

You can really only hope that when you get a big man, he develops into a playmaker....I know it sounds crazy but Myles best play of the game was a 2nd half rebound under our own basket, and he makes a crazy/risky chest pass, just by flicking his wrists and hits Harper right in his hands under the basket.....if Harper was moving better and a little healthier, he probably catches it clean and dunks it...instead he got it, pumped faked and drew the foul for FTs....

Every shot attempt Myles gets, deflates the opponents....you can see the looks on the faces when he scores or gets position....only 2 other players in the league strike fear into an opponents front line, in the paint.....Garza, because he is absolutely going to hit you with elbows, shoulders and forearms and Cockburn, who literally makes everyone make a "business decision".....Myles is now in that realm of his 25 minutes, absolutely must equate to 10 to 12 shot attempts and he needs to get the ball on the block/low post.

Normally, a low post player with ability to score, draws a double team from the guards trying to crowd him....but he's such a good passer that I trust him to make the play....and even though he's not Garza from the FT line (75- 80%), drawing fouls and getting 2nd shots, frustrates the opponent.

I'm almost certain Doucoure or Reiber will have to play vs Iowa, I hope they're ready for some important minutes off the bench to help out Cliff and Myles.

Surely the box score is wrong. Zero fouls called against him? Has that ever happened before?

Same here. I thought he had one called against him in the closing minutes, but maybe it was called on someone else (the camera shifted to Myles after the whistle blew).

Said this awhile ago. Bardo clearly blew the whistle on the refs. Man of the year right now.

It’s not just Bardo. It seems to really have stopped since Archie Miller called him the best Defensive Big man in the league. I’m sure the refs got the message from many including Pike. You have no idea what he does away from the game.

I have a feeling Pat Hobbs has also voiced his displeasure with league officials over Myles treatment from refs.

Someone else mentioned it...The great part of Myle's defense is that he isn't just sitting under the basket to block out the paint...We have seen him come out to defend, steal, disrupt and have such good hands on defense. He is fun to watch when and if he doesnt get called for standing in place.

BTW everyone, it's not just us bitching about Bo and that crew. Late last night I went to other B1G sites and at least three other schools had Bo as a topic of discussion complaining just how bad he is. What I also learned is Bo was implicated a few years back for possible infractions related to let just say w/o saying it, improprieties with the outcomes of games. He was suspended but then brought back because of the dearth of officials in the league.

it's so obvious that Bo usually favors one team over the other in any game he refs. That looks very very suspicious

I made the same observation to my son last night. Thank God for Bardo!

Myles may be the best defense center in The Big if he had a mid range jump shot he would clearly be a top five overall

I'll say it again, Bardo is the best in the business, his knowledge of the game is just, well superior. Wonder if he stays with BTN, or ends up at ESPN, or another major sports channel.

My guess is that the game has slowed down for Myles.. that is he sees things sooner and plays within himself.. even seizing the initiative and making the ball handler react to him. Also, I think the coaches are managing his time better.. when he gets tired.. he makes mistakes. I think I saw him ask to come out this game.. and coaches missed it.. left himi

Jay Bilas has nice things to say today about Myles, and Rutgers in general. We are #20 in his current rankings:

20. Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Ron Harper Jr. gets the headlines for Rutgers -- and he should. But one guy who has been undervalued has been Myles Johnson. The long-armed, savvy big man has proved to be an excellent defender who can break contact, move his feet and get around post players to make steals and deflections. Johnson is a very good rebounder, shot-changer and lane-disrupter. Rutgers looked like it was going to struggle with a five-game slide in January, but the Scarlet Knights have not lost since Jan. 21, posting four straight wins.
