Transferred from Drake, they're undefeated, could you imagine if he was still on that team?!?! Nice player, very smooth and athletic. Two incredible plays: 1) the steal where we fouled him but he had clean breakaway dribbling to the hoop; 2) the three pointer top of the key, couldn't pass, just squared up and drained it. How the hell do you defend that.

Robbins and Johnson, the Western Michigan transfer made Minnesota a NCAA Tournament team again after losing Oturu to the NBA....after the end of the season, there are always these "way too early preseason predictions" and Minnesota, Penn State were both expecting to be at 11th or worse in the league. While Minnesota may not finish any higher than 9th or 10th, they have a solid 7 or 8 players.

One of the kids RU was in contention for in recruiting with Minnesota for, was a kid from Chicago, Martice Mitchell..... who is definitely a longer term project based on size and strength but like Cliff, more upside and raw. Robbins replaced Oturu at Center and Johnson stepped in at forward filling another hole for Pitino Jr.

I wanted Mitchell pretty bad.
Robbins couldn’t handle Myles. Favorite play was when Myles just yanked it out of his hands and tossed a pretty outlet pass 3/4 courts length to be caught in stride. Myles is playing out of this world. Very focused, 10 years ago kids an nba prospect

I love the quality of play from both Robbins and Johnson. They brought instant offense but equally instant defense and by doing so filled the void left by Oturu.

Their other transfer (Both Gach from Utah, originally from Minnesota) has been a disappointment but they've definitely hit on 2 of 3. Plus Carr is a transfer, obviously.

This has nothing to do with Myles, who I love as a player(and as a representative of the school), but Robbins looks to be a pretty special talent. Minny should focus him more.

Robbins was a beast at Drake and was a known big pick up for Minny. Those transfers that came in, saved the day for them. Bc they'd be at the complete bottom of the B10 this yr

Robbins' stats for the game were excellent across the board, but a deeper look reveals a different story. Against Myles, Robbin was outplayed. Robbins pick up 4 of his 5 fouls when Myles was in the game. Robbin did most of his damage against Cliff. Robbins struggles against teams who have the size to body him and force him into foul trouble. It takes away from Robbins' ability to be a good offensive player. Illinois limited Robbins' impact on the game because Cockburn patrolled the paint. Cockburn made Robbins hack him all game in an attempt to play defense. Wisconsin did the same thing to Robbins with Potter. Against Dickerson (Michigan) in the first game, Robbins got abused again by getting into foul trouble trying to guard Michigan's center. The key is to force Robbins to play defense, and he becomes less effective. I will give him credit for getting even with Dickerson the second time the teams met. Robbins forced Dickerson into some quick fouls, and Dickerson never recovered.

Robbins was crafty too, very good transfer pick-up by little Ricky. We need to find a 4 like that for next season. And an experienced PG.

Robbins' Uncle is Ed Conroy who is the Associate Head Coach of University of Minnesota basketball team, doubtful if Karl Hobbs or Brandin Knight has a 7 foot nephew who is College age & plays for another University.

Makes you wonder why Minnesota didn’t have him sooner

Did you see the profile on him on BTN? He was really heavy in high school. 70 lbs. heavier in high school. He definitely has some skills.

Best of Luck,

He wasn't very good as a freshman. Drake was just about his only offer. He did a great job of getting his body in shape and expanding his game.

Ricky really lucked out having Robbins' uncle on his staff. Now I understand how he landed Robbins. Robbins is good and I give him a lot of credit for losing so much weight and making himself so much better.

Hadn't seen him play and when he hit that 3 I almost had a friggin stroke, if he had hit the 2nd one I'm sure I would have and they may have won the game. He has a very nice offensive game

Well Myles is a top defensive player in the country so it's not a susprise that Myles outplayed him. Or that a guy like Cockburn would give him trouble. Given he was at Drake last year I think it is safe to assume he's never matched up with the caliber of big men he is facing this season, and even with that, his #'s are pretty good.

Now from the little I've seen of him I'd say he has some perimeter skills which are being underutilized. He can shoot, I think he can put the ball on the floor, and Minny really didn't put him in those positions aside for what looked like a desperation 3(I forget where they were in the shot clock).

He's new to the team, covid threw training camp out of wack, so maybe that plays into why Minny didn't feature him too much, but I bet that changes next year.

The fact that his #'s in the B1G conference are the pretty much on par with his #'s last year at Drake(and his soph#'s were a significant improvement over his fresh#'s) also says his game continues to improve. Think he has legit NBA potential.

I have been impressed with him when I watching play against other teams which admittedly is not a lot. Have seen him hit threes several times so I am not sure that should have been a surprise. Probably right that if you make him work defensively you have a better chance of winning the battle. I thought Pike was trying very hard to avoid having Cliff match up with him by following Pitino's substitution patterns to ensure MJ was in most of the time that Dobbins was.

Robbins has good skills and can hit the 3 as he has hit 3 of them in a few games and 5 in one. He also rebounds especially on the offensive glass, and blocks shots. Been an excellent replacement for Oturu. His liability is he is foul prone and has fouled out a number of games. But the kid has a good mental state as after Dickerson lit him up for 28 points to his 5 , he rebounded and lit up Dickerson for 22 points and held him to 9 points about 2 weeks later. He will be a handful for Myles in the rematch.
