Wrestling TRI-MEET (Minny, Purdue, Rutgers) MATCH THREAD

[MS-RU]

If Poz can win this, it will come down to Janzer once again...

[Lex Knapp]

Webster strikes first on a low single, taking a 2-0 lead.

Poz escapes right away, making it 2-1

[Lex Knapp]

No idea but I doubt it was against a kid ranked as high as #16

13 in this week's Flo rankings

[Lex Knapp]

Poz starting the second period on defense, down 2-1.

He quickly escapes to make it 2-2

[Lex Knapp]

Poz gets a takedown on a go-behind to make it 4-2, but Webster is out right away.

4-3 Poz halfway through the second

[MS-RU]

When was the last time Grello earned a Tech fall?

According to wrestle stat it was 2018 against Jed Smith (Army) who absolutely wasn't ranked. That was the only one of his career.

[Clearscreen5]

13 in this week's Flo rankings

Even more impressive. What is the #16 ranking from - what service?

[Lex Knapp]

Period ends on the feet, with Poz still leading 4-3.

Webster will start the third period on bottom

[Lex Knapp]

Even more impressive. What is the #16 ranking from - what service?

I believe BTN uses Intermat's rankings

[Lex Knapp]

Poznanski doing a heck of a job keeping Webster flat. He holds 45 seconds of RT, leading 4-3, with 55 seconds remaining

[Lex Knapp]

Webster escapes, making the match even at 4 a piece

[koleszar]

Oh Poz not at the end like that.

[SCNJ]

Rutgers once again does just enough to shoot themselves straight in the dick

[Clearscreen5]

Dammit

[RUTrack94]

RU ... not their year.

[Lex Knapp]

Webster gets the match sealing takedown with ten seconds left, and wins 6-4. Great effort from Poznanski.

Team score is now 16-15, as Billy Janzer takes on Garrett Joles at 197-lbs

[tfio]

Of course...

[MS-RU]

We are our own worst enemy

[Lex Knapp]

Sounds like McDermott drew the Steveson sweepstakes

[rugrapfan1]

That’s surprised me. POZ gas tank is always on extra full. Sometimes matchups mean a lot.

[MS-RU]

We literally cannot win a big match in a pressure situation.

[Lex Knapp]

Janzer with a takedown to go up 2-0

[JudgeSmails56]

Might not win a match this year

[RUTrack94]

We are our own worst enemy

As long as MBB wins today to salvage a win ... otherwise highlight of the weekend is WVB winning and WBB game being postponed:

[Clearscreen5]

Might not win a match this year

Come on. We are going to annihilate Maryland and will be favored against Indiana and probably Michigan State.

[bigmatt718]

Might not win a match this year

We'll beat Maryland because they royally suck balls, but not much else.

[RUTrack94]

Might not win a match this year

Maryland ... unless that gets cancelled ... at least they aren’t losing 33-6 ... respectable losses.

[Lex Knapp]

Janzer holds Joles down the rest of the period, but still only leads 2-0.

Janzer going on bottom to start the second period

[MS-RU]

Might not win a match this year

Stop. We will crush Maryland and Indiana more than likely.

[Lex Knapp]

Janzer escapes to make the score 3-0

[SCNJ]

We’re 5-5 in every dual, just not securing bonus points. I don’t think the team is as bad as some are making it out to be. We seemingly have one or two under performers in every match and it weighs us down.

[MS-RU]

Do you think Janzer realizes he needs a lot of points on this match?

[Lex Knapp]

Second period ends on the feet, as Janzer maintains a 3-0 lead.

Joles chooses defense to start the third period

[SCNJ]

Do you think Janzer realizes he needs a lot of points on this match?

He’s not a big point scorer. He needs a win for his own resume for the national tournament.

[MS-RU]

Yup.

Again, if Aguilar doesn't pinned we have a very real chance at winning this but Goody has no one to blame but himself for that travesty.

[Lex Knapp]

Do you think Janzer realizes he needs a lot of points on this match?

I think he does, I just do not think he has the arsenal to do so. At least, from his feet.

[koleszar]

Janzer is becoming the new Grello, "Will he shoot this match?"

[bigmatt718]

We’re 5-5 in every dual, just not securing bonus points. I don’t think the team is as bad as some are making it out to be. We seemingly have one or two under performers in every match and it weighs us down.

Cough Aguilar cough

[koleszar]

Janzer was pinned. He's not going to be a very good 197 lber.

Now do I watch The biggest prick in the world vs. our sacrificial lamb?

[Lex Knapp]

Janzer gives up a reversal to make it 3-2. Joles cuts Janzer to make the score 4-2. Just about 40 seconds remaining
