Because I was working, I had the Big 10 channel on the background and ended up watching a good amount of this game. Not overly impressed with Wisconsin, although they did jump out to a pretty big lead in the first half. (And Maryland looked horrible in that half) In the second Maryland got hot early and closed that gap. But what got me was that for the final 7 minutes or so of the second half, Wisconsin made no attempt to run plays and score; they just seemed content to dribble and pass, run out the shot clock and chuck the ball up at the end. And their lead got whittled down at the end, to the point if Maryland suddenly got hot, they'd be trouble. A couple of times, Wisconsin brought the ball down quickly, yet didn't even drive for the basket. At one point they had a clear 2 on 1, player on the right with the ball at the 3 point arc, player on the left, defender in the paint, easy drive to the basket for both of them before another defender gets within range. Yet the player with the ball chose to dribble until another defender made it down. Obviously they won the game, but another time this could really come back to bite them.

The Badgers made zero FG in the final seven minutes of the game and still won. They were scoreless for over six minutes before Trice hit four FT in the final minute when the Terps fouled intentionally. They had a 15 point lead before the scoring drought. Very unusual but effective last night because they also kept Maryland from scoring for three minutes (6:36 mark to the 3:35 mark), at which point the lead was trimmed to ten points.

Very similar to Rutgers versus Wisconsin where both teams were shooting bricks but they won at the foul line. They win ugly but it doesn't matter because they are a consistent winner.

NOt only that they turned the ball over like 3 straight times and Maryland had an opportunity to close the gap but missed 3 pointers every time down which they didn'thave to take each time and then the game was over
