The IU win does 3 things.

1) gets the team back on track
2) eliminates any nonsense about not being able to win on the road for a resume
3) gets us past the worst of our schedule
Agree, would be nice to go 2-0 this week to even up our record . One at a time though

very very good numbers....also Hofstra is about to become a Quad 3 win.

With MSU/Nwstern not doing well in the NET and in the case of MSU Q3 at home which is stunning to say its important to win this game

I didn't realize MSU's last 3 games were postponed due to COVID and that NW has lost their last 7 straight. You have to bring it every night, but these games are quite winnable.
Have we ever beaten Michigan State in men’s basketball?

Izzo is a great coach. One of the best. But we were far from 100% at almost every position.

Tied is most games played against quad 1 on the country ...and after Gonzaga, Baylor ..tied with four other teams with 4 quad 1 wins

now ...need to get Michigan state
Agree this is a huge win for the metrics as well as to get our Mojo back.

Wait we were originally scheduled to give up a home game to play them at MSG? Last season Michigan was the "home" team against us in the Garden and played us again at the RAC.

We gave up a home game to play Wisconsin at the Garden in 16-17 as well
We weren't really a contender for NCAA's then. Every win is worth its weight in gold now that we are. (And we lost to Wisky that game).

I'm still voting no to playing home games at MSG at this *point. Maybe it'll be different when every season we are confident it's just a matter of where we play in the March Madness bracketology, not if.

*well when fans can actually attend games again--I'd have no problem playing MSU at MSG this Thurs.

I'm not a fan of that. The RAC is a force. If other teams want to play us at MSG then it should be on their home dime imo.

I thought it was a conference level agreement that a couple game a year would be played at site venues like MSG with the home team rotating? As long as it alternates and there will be years where RU gets to play a road game at MSG it’s not a big deal IMO.

Yeah I don't like it either. Didn't like playing a home game at MetLife when we were a perennial bowl team either (alas, that game was devastating for an unforeseen reason)

There’s a huuuuge difference between playing a football game at MetLife from RU (sterile, quiet stadium, terrible tailgating) versus basketball at MSG (Mecca of basketball, amazing pregame spots, just as hype an arena and can be just as loud or louder than the RAC especially if we sell it out as we saw last year with the Michigan game) that is also a huge recruiting advantage to play there, unlike MetLife which has no history. Give me a game around Christmas/New Years in the City at MSG any year, love it

Agree. Whether home team or visiting team, from attending last year's game against Michigan, the MSG environment was fantastic. Rutgers Nation showed up in force, the back and forth with Michigan fans was fun and the buzz was electric. Even though we lost in a game where we should have won, due to all the missed shots, I'm sure the Players love playing at MSG and its a great fan experience for a change of scenery.

It's great to get an "away" game at MSG, but at this point I still like our chances better to get at least a split in a home&home series in the RAC (again when fans return). Playing an OCC game/tourney at MSG around the holidays is fantastic no doubt.

I think 9-11 will get us in
I agree, it's the toughest league in America and we already have 4 quad 1 wins. If our 5 next wins are Michigan State at home, at Nebraska, Northwestern x2, and Maryland at home, then maybe it gets a little dicey, but any other win gets us another quad 1 win most likely and will boost our resume more. Minnesota twice, at Michigan, at Iowa, and Indiana at home all offer significant chances to boost our resume even more.

We had the most difficult schedule in the country the last 10 games, 8 out of 10 against top40, went 4-6 in 9 Q1 games, 1 Q2 game. 2-3 home, 2-3 road. It just looks bad, losing 5 in a row, and we beat NET #40 Syracuse 9-4 b4 the B1G schedule.

Ranked by NET B1G conference(if all 20 are played)
1) #3 Michigan 13-1(8-1) Q1 3-1 Q2 4-0 (8)/14 7-1
6 Q1 4 Q2 1 Q3 (10)/11
2) #5 Iowa 12-3(6-2) Q1 3-2 Q2 3-1 (9)/15 6-3
7 Q1 3 Q2 2 Q3 (10)/12
3) #7 Illinois 10-5(6-3) Q1 2-4 Q2 5-1 (12)/15 7-5
7 Q1 1 Q2 3 Q3 (8)/11
4) #17 Ohio St 12-4(6-4) Q1 4-3 Q2 2-1 (10)/16 6-4
6 Q3 3 Q2 1 Q3 (9)/10
5) #18 Wisconsin 12-4(6-3) Q1 2-2 Q2 4-2 (10)/16 6-4
8 Q1 2 Q2 1 Q3 (10)/11
6) #30 Purdue 11-6(6-4) Q1 3-4 Q1 5-1 (13)/17 8-5
4 Q1 2 Q2 4 Q3 (6)/10
7) #36 Minnesota 11-5(4-5) Q1 4-4 Q2 0-1 (9)/16 4-5
7 Q1 1 Q2 3 Q3 (8)/11
8) #37 Maryland 9-7(3-6) Q1 3-6 Q2 0-1 (10)/16 3-7
5 Q1 3 Q2 3 Q3 (8)/11
9) #38 Penn St. 5-6(2-5) Q1 1-5 Q2 2-1 (9)/11 3-6
8 Q1 3 Q2 2 Q3 (11)/13
10) #47 Indiana 9-7(4-5) Q1 1-5 Q2 4-1 (11)/16 5-6
7 Q1 3 Q2 1 Q3 (10)/11
11) #48 Rutgers 8-6(4-6) Q1 4-5 Q2 1-1 (11)/14 5-6
3 Q1 4 Q2 3 Q3 (7)/10
12) #76 Nwestern 6-8(3-7) Q1 2-7 Q2 0-1 (10)/14 2-8
6 Q1 3 Q2 1 Q3 (9)/10
13) #84 Michigan St 8-4(2-4) Q1 0-3 Q2 2-1 (6)/12 2-4
11 Q1 2 Q2 1 Q3 (13)/14
14) #159 Nebraska 4-8(0-5) Q1 0-4 Q2 0-2 (6)/12 0-6
9 Q1 6 Q2 (15)/15

We are tied with Ohio St and Minnesota with 4 Q1 wins right now.
T3rd in most Q1/2 games with 11 played behind Purdue, 13, and Illinois, 12.
T1st with 9 Q1 games played(4-5) with Maryland(3-6) and Northwestern(2-7)
Purdue and Rutgers have the easiest schedules going forward.
Losing at Q3 Miami(6-8) is killing Purdue, Indiana loss at home NW only Q3 losses outside of Nebraska.
Michigan, Michigan St, Penn St, and Nebraska will be fighting time and getting tired in the process of trying to squeeze all 20 conference games in.
