Ru is a 1 point favorite this AM, after line opened at PSU -1....
I have not posted in the predictions threads, but PSU has 4 capable guards who can all get to 15 points if they're hitting shots.....Jones, Dread, Brockington and transfer Sam Sessioms.
The front court is where PSU has rugged defensive guys Harrar and Buttock, who are more offensive rebound guys. If RUs guards (Baker, Mathis, Caleb, Mulcahy and Young outscore the 4 PSU guards, they win....if they don't, it comes down to Harper Jr, Myles and Cliff (I think Reiber might be a better matchup for a few minutes).
This is a game where RU should own both backboards....limit the long rebounds and 2nd shots and I'd rather see a forced up drive by Mathis and Mulcahy, which could be an offensive rebound for Myles and Cliff, instead of a bad pass and turnover leading to a PSU fast break 3 point barrage.
PSU doesn't have a shot blocker in the paint, so I can see a lot of drives to the basket and RU needs to convert their layups, and put backs, which should be available....if PSU decides to defend better and the ball moves, there should also be open 3s most of the night.
It's really a guess on what PSU will shoot from 3 in any game....they do force up a lot of bad shots, so RU wins by double digits if they limit PSUs 2nd shots....
If Mulcahy gets to double figures, I can't see a way RU loses (unless Caleb, Mathis, Young, Baker and Harper all get to double figures, but odds are, one of them won't)........time for Paul to start taking advantage of his 22 to 25 minutes and opportunities.
