Why does this matter?

It all falls on the coach.

You never answered the question. Did you say it the beginning of the year? The players he recruited were actually ranked this year. I continue to say The collapse is on both the Coach and the players. Pike has to find a way to get the best out of the players but..........at the same time the players still need to make the shots.

mathis is uncoachable

I haven’t watched the combinations that closely tonight admittedly but it seemed to me Mathis has been in good situations to succeed to tonight and he he gave up after the first missed shot - I would not be surprised if Pike moves away from him completely after this one - and not surprised he makes good on his transfer thought he had last year.

I hate to say I told ya so but.... you all shouldve seen this coming since march. Team just isnt that good, isnt well coached, and its tough to play with full balls to wall for 40 minutes with no crowds.

Some of you guys really discounted how important yeboah was. He was an adult. This group is all babies. There i said it.
Yes but this team sucks

Penn State fan here. Haven’t watched much hoops this season - I’m with Coach K. Why are they playing? So more uninformed than usual.

1. RU seems to have abandoned its identity. The rebounding effort is shocking.
2. I like Young’s athleticism and energy, but it is problematic to put him in a position to control a team’s pace, tempo and rhythm.
3. Penn State’s a little better than its record and it’s looked since the COVID-19 halt.
4. Games are long. Seasons are longer. A lot can happen tonight and certainly the rest of the way.

I don't get your point here.

Yes, the players need to make the shots. But who recruited a bunch of players who can't make shots?

It's the coach who recruited these players. It's the coach who needs to motivate these players. It's the coach who is guiding these players.

And what does it matter if I said it the beginning of the year or not. Like I'm not sure what your point is here. That's just some pointless gotcha which doesn't even make tangential sense. Sure these players were ranked, but it's clear we were vastly overrated. What does it matter whether I said it at the beginning of the year or not?
