Painter is a great coach . You saw them not hesitate after the 3 and foul without even a timeout ; that’s coaching . Great set for the tying 3 too. Purdue’s win will help our resume assuming we can win some games moving forward

that team has balls. Good thing we got them before we went in the *******.

they gave RU a great game but a little too green at that time to beat us. Give Rutgers credit though, we really hit them back, it was an impressive game for us given the disaster at Ohio State and no Harper. That we have crumbled since its inexplicable

Ivey, the freshman who hit the 3 , is the son of Niele Ivey who is now the HC of Notre Dame Women’s BB team. I remember her when she played for ND around 2000 or so when ND was a power battling UConn every year. Terrific PG
Jaden Ivey can play. Terrific player with a high ceiling.

Purdue played perfectly down the stretch. Solid team effort - players and coaches. They had all the answers.

It’s really very easy to explain though it must have been frustrating for those of you who watched these last 3 games. I did not but will be back for PSU and hopefully the team has their legs back for the second half.

RHJ was dominant before he got hurt. Legs.
Geo has been less than himself all year. Legs.
Caleb is getting his legs back and looks pretty good I hear.
Young was dominant until his injury and will be back if he has not been already.

We also shot lights out before this stretch. Again, injuries and tired legs affect shooting.

Two constants about Purdue under Painter — they always play scrappy, hard-nosed defense, and they always seem to have a big horse or two at center. Painter learned at the feet of Gene Keady.

Painter is a very fine coach.......That being said , just as our shooting pre the first OSU game was unreal so too our horrible shooting these last few games is equally unreal. If we play defense and rebound like we did against Wisconsin and shoot somewhat better we should be ok. It's easy to forget that unlike last year , we've really been hit by the injury bug to key players. Ankle sprains take time to heal and regain quickness and spring. In Geo's case , he's still not 100%. And I also think the fewer OOC games this year has hurt not only freshmen development but delayed Pike's mix and match of players to put on the floor at any one time. The lineups still seem to be works in progress .

What tired legs? Rutgers has almost a full week off before Wisconsin. What a lame excuse.
