Are we Purdue's Daddy?

Just for fun -- to channel Pedro Martinez -- does Purdue just have to tip their caps and call Rutgers their Daddy?

This is not oft-discussed, as Rutgers has had such little continued success vs a single peer school. What is driving this strange success? Who is John Purdue? Did he have a dalliance with someone associated with Henry Rutgers? Is there some greater meaning to this stretch? Can we assume we are now Papa Purdue?

Discuss. 😋

That Purdue game was horrible. Remember Haas coming off the bench and being guarded by kid six inches shorter and banking ball in off the glass.

Lol & PSA. You have to pick:

1) highlight the douchebaggery of other fanbases (because of their domination and lack of respect for us)
OR
2) "All in good fun" mock and belittle the teams we beat

Can't do both!

What if i do #1, and then do #2 but with some self deprecation mixed in?

Let’s be honest, when we joined the B1G, Purdue was the team everyone thought we should beat regularly in sports. Cmon, it’s Purdue. Northwestern another that comes to mind. I don’t expect to win every single time, but often enough. Illinois hopefully becomes that soon, Indiana. These were the worst teams historically in the conference over the last 20-30 years.

Purdue has won the Big Ten 24 times in their basketball history. I don't know why one would assume RU should regularly beat Purdue in basketball

Why do you think Purdue is a bad basketball program?

Fair to say we are in a very limited time period. Thing is with the Big money every school has a chance to make a run at being decent and not be an annual doormat. Very different from 35 - 40 years ago when I grew up watching Big Ten in NJ. Wow I feel old now.

Why are you giving me the huh? Lol... I agree Purdue is good. That's why I questioned the poster saying we all thought Purdue was the team we would regularly beat

I think your right about this. The title of this thread is unnecessary also. There is a bit of discussion in other threads about how dickish some other fan bases are toward RU. This type of arrogance about our recent good fortune kind of puts that discussion in a different perspective.

I think we’ve played them and beat them recently, other than that I don’t think about it or give a ****.
I do greatly respect their basketball program.
