The performance of all the players on our team have to give the opposing coaches a challenge. You just can’t focus on Ron or any one player to win the game. Having multiple guys who can takeover is something we haven’t had in years.

While I'd love to see PM hit more threes, I don't see it happening. At least not this year. That said, I love everything else about his game. We have plenty of scoring power with Ron, Geo, Montez and Young.

Paul is a career 35% shooter from downtown. He isn't as bad as many make him out to be. We don't want him taking a ton of 3's but when he is set and open he needs to take those shots and is knocking them down at a decent clip

What is it that Pike has said? “Defense wins games, Offense by how much...”

He’s got both now!

*insert evil laughter here*

Thing with Mulcahy is that you now absolutely have to come out on him at the arc, because he has shown a willingness to take the open threes instead of just looking to pass. That opens up the middle more, and allows for better ball movement.

Having multiple guys that are able to make outside shots forces the defense to stay honest - or get beaten when they try to collapse on the paint the way Purdue did.

I mean, sure, they took Johnson out of the game offensively by doubling him or shutting down penetration by collapsing... but our guys are good enough passers to find shooters who punished them for that approach.

Paul needs to continue taking the wide open shoot so defenders will come out and he can then fake shot and drive into the lanes and play his game of passing to the open man.

If Paul shoots with confidence the makes will come and then he can take his game to where he wants it as a distributor.

I must say his defense has improved as well.

BTW, loved how Mathis stepped up to fill in the scoring void left by RHJ not playing.

A full team is starting to come together.

If he’s open like that I definitely want him taking them. He has a good stroke.

Is it coaching and/or new practice facility helping our shooting umbers this season? Or is it players? It has been great to see us hit open shots consistently this season vs. attempting to grab rebounds.

I wonder if the pandemic had anything to do with it, too. Stuck inside since March, finding a hoop and just shooting all day.
