IMO the next time a bogus foul is called on Myles Pike needs to throw a first class, Big League Fit. Doesn't matter if he gets T'd up or thrown out. Has to send a message that he's not going to tolerate this sh*t. May hurt short term but will help long term.
Myles can't be afraid to make a move, essentially put in a straight jacket & rendered unable to really play. Beyond the physical aspect there is the potential psychological effect of demoralizing him. You can already see his frustration. We can't win without him.
Obviously Refs will react negatively at the time, but they don't like being called out & exposed in public. And Pike needs to repeat if the treatment continues. I know this is probably considered an old school approach, but that doesn't necessarily make it wrong. Allowing this crap to go on is a long term losing proposition.

I respect your point of view. I don’t know if there is a statistical analysis to determine whether working officials , taking technicals , or calling them out in some way publically, has future benefit. I know we’re frustrated. Analytics might be interesting had they existed. I don’t think pike is going to change his spots here. He’s a classy guy who is respected by anyone he seems to come in contact with. It’s not really a bad thing, even if we’re frustrated sometimes

Respect your opinion as well. Are you familiar with Bobby Knight. Volatile & very rough on the Refs. Didn't carte for him as a person, but won 3 NCAA championships, 1 NIT & 11 Big Ten championships. If Pike & the team don't want to keep getting it in the as%, then he has to send a message loud & clear.

Sure I’m “familiar”.. we’ve come a long way without our coach behaving like Bobby knight.

Doesn’t the team send their concerns with fouls to the league office for review?
I assume there is mechanismto handle these, educate refs on patterns or missed calls.

Yes, but sone people would rather have the coach make a public spectacle and cost his team points in the process. If any of those wanting Pike to get teed up have ever sat anywhere near the Rutgers bench they’d know he is VERY active with the refs. You can get your pint across without costing your team points down the stretch in a tight game.

It's amazing that the OP isn't considered a basketball coaching guru with this type of advice. 🤔

Would have been surprised if anyone had agreed with me. I know my approach is a product of my make up & lengthy experience as player, coach, & manager in a long gone era. That said, given the circumstances, I believe the the tactic I suggested is warranted for the reasons expressed in the original post.
Not in any way suggesting that Pike become anything like Bobby Knight whom I didn't care for at all. Pointed to him in response to djrc89's query as to whether analytics could prove or disprove the effectiveness of what I advocated.

Totally spot on. I had posted something similar following the game. Pike can take a lesson from Jim Boeheim here, he has done an excellent job of working the refs over the years.
