I have been saying for many years we needed a true speed lead guard. I was told by some here how wrong I was.

just happens that we finally got one last year and we would have been in the tournament last year. And he is one of our most valuable players.

Hope he is okay.

Great news as he went down hard. Very dangerous foul, surprised a flagrant wasn't considered as this was way more dangerous than a blow to the head.

Borowski refs 40 league games a year and is AWFUL in twenty of them. And they are indiscriminate. Being on the wrong side of one is torture. He called one wildly in our favor early last year v. PSU at the RAC. If you watch a lot of B1G games they happen.

I’ll eat the loss smiling if JY can bounce back quickly.

Is it just random? ORR is something up? Look up his history. He's been reprimanded before...

Completely random. Every fan base hates him because you remember the ones that cost you waaaayyyy more than the opposite. He has parody twitter accounts. We did get today’s “shout out”:

Just seems odd that someone is randomly that bad against one team in several games a year, without it being a specific team or two that could be explained away with fandom or regional bias.

As I wrote above if you rewatch last years PSU game at the RAC it was laughable. He called four pretty quickly on Lamar Stevens, two of which never happened and the fourth was questionable at best. Won us the game. Today he cost us a game. Happens more than it should in games his crew officiates. Just not a good ref.

Do refs ever get fired? Serious question

Or last time he had a reason to call for us against PSU, and opposite this time. I'm not a conspiracy theorist. But this dude smells fishy to me. Few years ago he got into trouble for trying to pull up his own assigned games early, to see where he'd be.

I don't know. Just something really stunk to me about this game, and I'm not speaking as an ameture at detecting such things...

While it wasn’t the hardest foul, Jacob was in the air for a hell of a long time, and the foul was blatant, purposeful and dangerous. Stunned that that wasn’t called flagrant.

Wonder what the home/away split is. The ridiculous home whistle in the B1G seems to be a meme.

To me, the staff hiring had some major hits but some misses as well. B+
Recruiting is kind of the same thing. Some good gets, but some real misses. B
Game day coaching. WAY UP over last year. B+ for reality, A when you factor in improvement.
Excitement generated, putting us back into play, trusting assistants, beginning the restoration of respect. A+

Yeah I get it and I agree about the calls going in our favor to help in that game, however, it wasn’t quite the same situation as this. Lamar didn’t foul out of that game. He played 32 minutes and picked up his 3rd fouls with like 5 minutes left in a very tight game. It’s one thing for a few bad calls to influence an outcome at the end when both teams are neck in neck in a game that can go either way. That happens all the time.

This was different as it wasn’t a close game at all - Rutgers was completely dominating until MJ picked up that cheap off ball 4th foul that the announcers even said were ridiculous.

Throwing a hip into a guy at the apex of his jump when he's completely vulnerable is absolutely a dirty *** play and the guy should've been thrown out of the game. Could've been seriously hurt. As much as there were at least 2 BS calls on Myles, especially the last one, of course, the hip check on JY was worse, IMO.

Far from a conspiracy theorist either, but his past transgressions (resulting in a year-long suspension) and wild inconsistency with the whistle definitely raise some eyebrows

Definitely been home cookin’ this season even without fans. B1G home teams are 8-2 thus far.

Teo home teams lost last night. How many games were played last year before two home losses? What is historically home vs away in the B1G?

I believe this year we will see more home losses since no crowds.

B1G teams won about 62% of their home games in '17-'18 and '18'-19. That number jumped to 68% last season. Thus far this year home teams are 8-3 or 73%. Small sample size this season obviously.

So the "Bounce back! We all good over here" tweet by Jacob... I agree that it's safe to assume from that wording that he doesn't have some crazy season-ending injury. That said, I also think it's foolish for us to interpret that Tweet as saying he is fine and good to go. When he says WE all good over here and bounce back he could easily simply be referring to the team as being OK and they won't let this loss get them down. He doesn't say "I'm good". So yeah, just wanted to point out that we probably shouldn't read his Tweet as meaning he is not injured and will not miss time. I hope that is the case though, fingers crossed.

Its the type of play that would cause a fight in a pick up game. He had zero shot at blocking or contesting the dunk so he just took out his body. Its dirty. Period.

A small part of me has been wondering if the refs (not sure if subconsciously or consciously) have been making up for the lack of home court environment with no fans by giving the home team an extra friendly whistle so far this year. I’d rather see all games played at neutral sites in a year like this than the BS we’ve seen this year so far. And we got the home cooking against Illinois.
