Yes , the refs sucked . But this game got away with a 20-3 Ohio state run . And 50-20! More than 8 minutes without a field goal . Baker missing front end of 1 and 1 . Looked like these guys went on Christmas break early . Let’s hope a wake up call . Crappy effort!

Second half rebounding was 26 - 8 in favor of OSU. I am not sure if I’ve ever seen anything quite like that.

Bardo said it best right before Myles 4th foul up 16 “ a bucket right here would be demoralizing” then bang Myles 4th followed by his 5th.

You guys must mot have watched the game. Without Myles and douc with 4 ohio state went inside at will. Layup after layup. We were powerless to stop it. Myles is much more effective on defense. Once Myles was done it was over. Yes maybe the guy were mentally weak and couldn’t score but defensively it was over which meant the game was over. Anyone who says otherwise didn’t watch the last 8 minutes.

EVERY PLAYER, 1-5, was out of position and lost focus in the last 8:46 of the 2nd half when Myles picked up phantom 5th, up 8 59-51, 9-29 after, the 2nd and 4th foul were pretty egregious. They checked out on the game from refs bad calls not some holiday distractions. Pike went 5 small no Doucoure, the team looked confused where everyone should be on O&D which led to JY's injury a minute or so later, and spiraled to 5 individuals with no chance to recover and no inside presence. They didn't respond to adversity well tonight, but you can't tell me putting 9 fouls on our Centers didn't lead to an OSU win.

tOSU 2 PT FG 10-20 50%, 3pt 1-10, 1st half, Myles 3 fouls, Doucoure 2
tOSU 2 PT FG **13-19** 68.4%, 3 PT 3-9, 2nd half Myles 2 fouls-out, Doucoure-2

BUT the.2 pt FG% had nothing to do with the refs putting both centers in foul trouble for the last 28 minutes or so 22-12, Cliff and Doucoure with 2 in the 1st half.

Pike will now have to practice 5 small and get players used to where they are supposed to be if Cliff and Myles is out in a game, which they probably NEVER do.

Think we also need to practice some zone defenses to help bigs in foul trouble.

Think we would have had a shot with Young still out there. After he went down it was over.

Without Myles it would have been a test. Without Myles and Young offense was non existent. Young helps get Harper open looks. Geo was massively disappointing. This is where we needed his senior leadership and clutchness and he was MIA

Exactly. Young keeps them honest defensively because he’s always a threat to drive to the hoop. Losing Myles also killed us on the boards. What we saw in the final 8 looked a lot like last season when our shooters went cold. Without the rebounding.

yeah I didnt think this was a good game for Geo even before the last 15 minutes. Not going to be too hard on him as he is getting back into the flow but I really expect to see something from him vs Purdue

We could reallyyyy use a Geo breakout performance against Purdue especially with the possibility of a young being out or banged up.

Disappointed that we’re not 7-0, but think the adversity will be a net positive, especially seasoning them for the tournaments. Geo hasnt had any real pressure yet - he needs that to get his swagger back.

It wasn't because of effort. We were up 16 and Baker gets a steal they pull it out and then Johnson gets a bs offensive foul. After that things went downhill and compounded. Then you trying to dunk on someone gets himself hurt.

Duke being the absolute biggest waste of human flesh I've ever seen on a basketball court single handedly derailed us. Wasn't expecting to go undefeated. But we had this game won and win vs Purdue could have had us ranked inside the top 8. But nope we keep sending out Mr Neck Growth who is a deer in headlights and refs blew.
You should say it to Douc’s face. He’d rip off his neck growth and smack you around with it.

We were up 15 with 13 minutes left when Myles left and then collapse!
FYI, we were up 59-51 when Myles fouled out with 8:46 left and JY was hip-checked by that OSU dirtbag with 7:26 left and we were up by 61-55 after Mathis hit JY's 2 FTs, but the basic point remains that the game changed totally after Myles went out especially.

We were robbed of any ability to play low post defense. Lets see how any other team in America does with all 3 centers taken out of the game on the road against a Top 25 team.

You may not have said it but your OP is delusional.
You can’t play well when you’re not permitted to play the game.
There’s no overcoming that
I wouldn’t say delusional . Last night the team needed to find a way . But it’s only one game and onto the next . This was a “Christmas Collapse “. Let’s hope it’s just a blip on the radar . Need to put it behind us and follow it up with wins.

Nobody has to prove it. It's common knowledge. Like the sky is blue.
It’s false. I said going into year 3 “jury is still out” on pike . And it was Guess what ? If there is an ncaa tournament this year and we aren’t selected , we will have concerns

A collapse the players were not responsible for.
No different than baseball game where every pitch you throw is called a ball regardless where it is.
Out of your control.
That’s right you’ve never seen that, well I’ve never seen what I saw yesterday.
Myles 4th he was ran into at full speed, a 6-11 250 pound man Knocked backwards and called for initiating contact

Rutgers was playing a different game than OSU was. Their centers were allowed to give a ton of contact, while ours weren't - and they dominated in post points because of it. We were forced to stay outside the arc by the officiating, which allowed us to be hacked when we went inside and kept our scoring post players on the bench with fouls.

So, you had one team that was allowed the entire court to play offense, and another that was denied the middle by uneven officiating.

The only way we were going to overcome that was to somehow be lights out from beyond the arc, but that's not our strength. We're one of the most efficient scoring teams in the country because we get the ball into the paint and shoot 2Ps well... but that door was closed, which forced us to our weakness of outside shooting.

Once Young went down, though, that was it - he is crucial to our ball movement and ability to penetrate and kick, and is crucial to our on-ball defense of guards. Without him, and without Johnson to work inside-out to guards, our offense was going to quickly gum up and be just high weaves, passing around the arc, and isolation - and our defense was going to allow an easier time for their guards.

If you spent some time prior to the game figuring out the things that would force a collapse, this pretty much followed that script to the letter.

A full complement of players, and OSU wouldn't have been able to hang with us. Even if we were able to play the same game as OSU, they wouldn't have been able to hang with us. It was clear from the outset that they were going to be allowed the paint, and we were going to be denied it.
