Havent started the game thread but he needs his own thread for the tone he set, he sold fouls incredibly well today. He drew a crucial 4th foul on Curbello , made his free throws and was able to bait Williams into committing his 4th foul that set in motion a 6 point RU possession. Geo had his two free throws, Paul shot the flagrant foul shots and then RU converted on a dunk by Mathis to all of a sudden go up 7 at 62-55. This totally changed the flow of the game and Illinois was seemingly reeling from this body blow.,

Mulcahy also made two key free throws late when Illinois cut it to 83-79. In the first half Mulchay went up against Cockburn and blocked his shot

Intangibles, all the little things, Paul brought some toughness today. 30 minutes 7 boards, 6-6 at the line...all the things you want.

And also had another great help in the first half on Cockburn that forced him to miss another layup

In another thread, someone called him a Swiss Army Knife. That is the best description of him.

I’d bet the Illinois fans are chirping about that flagrant call. Imagine what our board would be like if that went against us.

But yes, awesome job by Paul today with all the little things. You can tell he was getting under their skin and that’s when the game shifted in our favor. He was a gamer today.

All week the Illinois fans talked about how good Rutgers is, and it should be a great game. They laid the compliments on thick. Shortly after the game, the hate came out quickly. Some called us overrated, and now that good. If that's true, what are they?

Today we saw the Paul Mulcahy I saw routinely in high school. Frustrating opponents with his tenaciousness, always in the right spot, creating havoc on the opposition. His crafty ability to get under the skin of opponents is a joy to watch.

Good thread bac, and Paul earned this shout-out for sure. Only the sixth game into his sophomore season, and he stood tall against a top team today. He’s pesky but he plays clean. He’s fully entrenched as a teammate who sets the tone for the kind of hustle that is part of this team’s identity.

I thought Mike Willams was a great rebounder for a guard but Paul is even better
Paul is a great rebounder but you have to remember Williams was barely 6'1 while Mulchahy is 6'7...............big difference. If Williams was 6'7 with his heart for rebounding he would of been the best rebounder in NCAA history lol:))

They are going to be salty. RU beat them after being down 11...there was a 23 point swing at one point in the game where RU outscored them 53-30.

It means we have arrived if the other teams fans are upset
