Ainge was a hustler and scrapper like Paul, but had a permanent puss on his face - do not see that with Mulcahy. Paul doesn’t back down from anything - is always ‘putting his nose in there’. Love watching this team.

I always thought that when your team has a big guy like Cockburn whose offensive game is based so much on barreling into guys that you never really have a right to complain about officiating. That Myles was able to play the number of minutes he did and be so effective with a guy like Cockburn out there throwing his weight around is kind of amazing.

Pauls play around the rim, whether rotating help or getting hands on offensive rebounds was a big factor in the win. I dont know if he’ll ever average 10 pts or 5 assists like i thought originally, but i never expected to think he will average 5 or 6 rebounds a game and not care about the rest because somehow he’s just an x factor that cant be denied

All week the Illinois fans talked about how good Rutgers is, and it should be a great game. They laid the compliments on thick. Shortly after the game, the hate came out quickly. Some called us overrated, and now that good. If that's true, what are they?
I doubt it was the same people that were giving compliments. A loss brings out a different type of fans.

I think Paul can put up 10 ppg & 5 apg but right now we don't need him to. We need a player to do the little things and he's playing that role perfectly.

Eventually, I think he will put up more #s when he's an upperclassman and others graduate. That's a sign of a good team.

Paul is filling in some of the things Caleb was doing last year, especially the timely long rebounds

Don’t see anything Ainge-like in PM’s game except for getting in opponent’s head.
Agreed. Definitely not the BYU Ainge who people saying that may not recall was a prolific scorer who would create his own offense on the perimeter.

They are white and seem to get under their opponents skin. That’s where the comparison starts and ends. Completely different players.

Mulcahy is a very unique player. I can't recall anyone at RU that has anything compared to his style. But, come on, he does have limitations. He's not a shooter and he gets consistently smoked with on ball defense. He's good helping out and scrapping on the boards and in the paint but we also really miss Caleb's scoring/shooting capabilities and he's got excellent length on defense also. If Geo had been out for any significant time we REALLY would've missed Caleb's offense.

The comparison is Mike Nardi.

Jersey white guy who gets under your skin and always seems to be in the right spot.

I remember growing up absolutely hating Nardi. I can’t wait for the entire B1G to hate PM.

I said yesterday in the text group I was in ... Can see him averaging 10-11 points next year or his senior year ... With some games 20, especially close games where we are up. With his smooth stroke from the line he could get 7-8 points in the last 60-90 seconds just from the line.

I agree with most of the love everyone is throwing at PM but his lack of any kind of jump shot is more then just a small hole in his game. We really need him to be at least some kind of threat to hit open jumpers. If not, good teams will be sagging way off of him and going under on screens resulting in a clogged up the middle for everyone else.

He has good mechanics and a smooth stroke from the foul line. I believe he can round out into a solid spot up shooter. I think he has shown he will work on his game in the off=season.

The thing I love the most about Paul is we finallu have a player that every player on the other teams and fans will hate, but have to respect him. He is irritating, almost always in position.

NAILED IT buddy!! He is SO “that guy!!”

I can’t recall any major conference rotation player like Paul. None. Nothing remotely close.

Was on the Illinois board and it was funny how several said Paul will make the All Punchable team.
There was some funny stuff on twitter during game about him ("white guy with headband on Rutgers") being next in line top hated player in college hoops and belonged on Duke

I find it interesting that he is so willing to challenge his team mates as well. Seemed to be about positioning, think I saw it on both ends of the floor.

Also saw him chatting with Pike on the sideline that looked more involved then typical coach player conversations.

Obviously this kid loves the game, and loves to think the game, figure there is a coaching career at some point in his future.

The Illinois board is insisting all he did was flop and that elbow didn't even make contact with his face. Only found one bad angle on Twitter and can't find a replay. Doesn't look like its on BTN+ ...anyone have a link to the game replay?

Nardi was obnoxious and always in the right spot. Not necessarily their games being similar, but it’s the same time of attitude and approach towards the game.
Did Nardi have vision? Was he totally fine on an offensive possession going in and screening players on top of a zone?

lol. His head snapped back like a fighter taking a good jab to the face. Nobody on the planet has the neck reflexes to fake that.

Guess there’s plenty of room on the bandwagon. You were the kid‘s biggest critic and ragged on him all last year.
I see know reason to call out people acknowledging how well he played yesterday.
Even if they were critical of his play in the past.
This is a regular occurrence in the world of competitive sports.
