You do have to worry if he tests positive for Covid or has Covid antibodies in his system but isn't positive that a pause in sports may happen. I hope its not the case.

My nephews school. Dorms are closed, but he was in Gainesville living off campus. Everyone got corona as the semester went on. He was the last of his buddies to get it. Had a couple days of sweating and headaches but then ok. Spent a week quarantining at a hotel. Everyone went home at Thanksgiving and stayed home.

Critical but stable condition in ICU could mean anything. Could go either way unfortunately.

If a link is established with COVID, all sports are over. Pro, college, the whole lot.

No one can say if this is Covid 19 related or if the virus played no role.
We should just hope for the best and not make claims it was reason , or deny involved , when we don't know if, either, is true or not.

No one has made such claim. No one knows. But if doctors find he had myocarditis, they will likely link it to COVID. At that point, everything will get shut down. Coach K will lead the charge.

two reasons why I said just wish the best and don't deny or claim

"Agree. But we all know people are gonna blame it on his covid diagnosis in the summer no matter what actually comes out. "

"Exactly there is zero evidence YET that this ia tied to Covid"

Something similar to this happened to Herb Pope several years ago. No COVID back then. Some people are overly pessimistic in their guess work.

wrong and what was your previous screen name
Critical condition means you are in intensive care. "Critical; Critical but Stable: Patient vital signs are unstable and not within normal limits. Patient may be unconscious. Indicators are unfavorable." I am in the medical field. Please.

Very scary video even more than Reggie Lewis or Gathers...kinda went head first into the court. Hope things turn out okay for him.

Scary video but what struck me is the casualness of the medics rolling him off.

Have to think he was stable when they were rolling him off on stretcher or would think there’d be a bit more urgrncy. I don’t know though.

College Basketball should halt playing till they find out if this was related to Covid.
Also all the players are coaches must be vaccinated to continue the season.

Florida BB program is in big trouble for not catching what he had during the physical.

Honestly it's probably impossible to know unless there are imaging studies of his cardiovascular system between 2019 and Spring 2020. He caught COVID in summer 2020. If COVID caused a heart defect, we can only know using those prior studies to compare. Otherwise, it's possible he just had an unknown heart defect completely unrelated to COVID.

Unless they can show a definitive link, I think basketball and football must continue on at this point. If it happens again, then we may need to reassess.

All that said, I wouldn't be surprised whatsoever if everything gets shutdown in the next week depending on how he progresses. Today's update (essentially no update - other than that he is still listed in critical condition) was not optimistic.

Pleeease, I don’t care if you belong to the Democrat, Republican, or Birthday party, do not bring any political sewage into this. Please
OK, sounds good to me.
I don't know what caused the collapse to happen, but politics definitely wasn't the cause and can't say if it was virus related or not at this point.
Just wish for a full recovery is all I can do and hope whatever caused collapse can be fixed and the young man can get back to playing.

Yes, Keyontae just fell forward and face planted. The sound made when his body hit the court attracted the attention of nearby players who had their backs turned toward him.

The video is heartbreaking. Real talk, I thought Keyontae was dead.

I'm still kinda numb. 😔

One of my best UF sources texted me today and said "Not looking good for him from the little I've been told. Tragic."

I've texted the UF Coaches to see how they and the players are coping. They are not saying much. One of them said that the players are "just ok," and he included three prayer emojis.

I'm surprised the game continued. J. Leonard Hamilton offered to cancel it.
