There is confusion in this thread about what the extra year of eligibility that the NCAA granted means. It doesn’t mean you can play this year (and only this year) and have it not count. It means every athlete has an extra year of eligibility added, to be used at any stage of their career. So, if Caleb redshirts this year, he will have 3 years of eligibility remaining. Source: Trust me I’ve researched it.

Edit: To illustrate further, not that this would happen, but Geo could actually redshirt this year and play 2 more years through the 2022-2023 season.

Whether he plays this year or not, if its a free year,
he can play 2 more either way
