He looks comfortable out there. He will get the 2nd most minutes for the 4 freshman. Caleb, whose game I really like, looked like he never dribbled before when he got here.

Sitting 3 feet behind the Rutgers bench, Eugene had the body of a prototype Tight End.Eugene couldn't dribble either in his first year. Could end up being a better version of eugene.
I think he has plenty of room to grow, but I don't think raw talent is how I would describe his play thus far.I really like Mag’s game. He moves well and is a confident defender. And a very raw talent. easy to root for.
He looks like he will make huge developmental strides this year and next.

I think he has been very solid. Very much in control, which is kind of the antithesis of raw talent.
I have no idea how Mag’s career will end up. Dane was very good and made a big impact immediately at Rutgers. The possibility could be an improved version of Dane Miller?
Miller did a lot of things well, but never put it together, hopefully Mag will.
Careful what you wish for
When I replied originally it got me thinking as to what is a "raw talent" and I kind of knocked around the idea of Reiber being a raw talent. I think he has some clear ability, but he's just not ready to yet, he needs more cooking. Yet, because he can shoot, he can pass, seems pretty cerebral, we often don't equate that type of player with being "raw". Palmquist might fit the raw bill even more, but again, because he can shoot, he's not one we would typically consider raw.You are right. I take back my raw talent comment. He is in control and solid, especially on the defensive end. I think he has a lot of potential to be a scorer that other teams would need to worry about.
Geo coming back will help. Harper certainly looks like he is stepping up as a guy who wants shots, and Young is a guy who is always looking to shoot.Someone's gonna have to do more shooting than we've had. Scoring whatever percentage of points we've gotten on fast breaks is not sustainable against good teams.
Dane is 6'6 215 Career Stats 8.2 pts, 5.8 reb, 2.5 ast FG 45% 3pt 26.6% FT 60%I have no idea how Mag’s career will end up. Dane was very good and made a big impact immediately at Rutgers.
I remember the friction, started his Jr Year and continued through his Senior year, didn't that happen in the NBA between an all star and coach, I forget who. The comparison of impact on game is there though watching a couple of Prolific Prep games last year. There was obvious friction between Mike Rice and Dane Miller. It was sad watching him play as a senior. 3 games in to the season there is no comparison between the 2. Granted Mag doesn't have the luxury of stepping in to an open line up spot.
Imagine 3 years ago if I told you........
Eugene Omoruyi would be transferring and it would be devastating news to the program, but the program would recover because Myles Johnson would replace him and become a very important player and possibly the best player on the team.
10,000 to 1 odds on that one.
most (including me) were scratching our head why Pikiell would recruit Eugene and the fact that Myles would be redshirted led most of us to conclude he was never going to be a huge impact player.
bottom line I make no conclusions any more what a player will end up being. Doesn’t stop me from guessing though
Why did you think a Myles redshirt meant he wouldn't be an impact player? He was a big man coming off injury working his way back and working on his body. I always thought he would be very good watching his tape with his length and soft hands you could see the skills were thereImagine 3 years ago if I told you........

Because I’m a pessimist. You are an optimistic. Too much soWhy did you think a Myles redshirt meant he wouldn't be an impact player? He's the guy who can get you points without running plays for himMy guess is he’ll be a good defender and rebounder. Question is can he score.
Haha too much being right. I wasn't an optimist watching Eddie Jordan team's play some of the worst defense I've ever seen. Pike just keeps recruiting players who can play so the correct evaluation is to be high on themBecause I’m a pessimist. You are an optimistic. Too much so![]()

I believe they said he was the best big man in practice towards the end of the year but didn't want to burn the redshirtAnd the word from the team and coaches was how well Myles was playing in practiceduring his redshirt year. And how he was getting into good shape, building muscle and dropping the bad weight he gained during his injury the previous year.
I also expected Myles to make a good contribution to the team in his very first year playing.
