Been hearing this might be a possibility for months so no big surprise.

Big bubble event similar to the NBA. Without the travel games could be held almost every day.

With the news about the vaccines coming out from both Pfizer and Maderna maybe this thing has a chance!

So the NCAA is benefitting it’s host city and state. Good for Indiana I guess

A plan like this is much more likely to happen than to say “we’re gonna try and hope the original format works out” when everyone with a brain knew it was gonna be a stretch. There will be a tourney this year, that is great news. Time to end the streak

Not really.

The Final Four was going to be there in 2021.

Under normal circumstances there would be far more people traveling to Indianapolis, staying in hotels, eating in restaurants, drinking in bars, using Uber etc., than 68 teams coming there.

Some teams will only be there one or two days.

With the smaller sample size/fluidity of the non conference schedule and possibilities of whole teams not playing for 10-14 days, you wonder if more than 68 teams will be chosen for March Madness or even an alternate teams list to replace in an early round games, forfeit thereafter. Who knows if NIT, CIT or CBI happen even with a broadcasting deal. I would guess losing player(s) to Covid for part of the season would factor in the decision as well.

I guess no conference tournaments
I have not read anywhere that conference tournaments were not happening but, sure, that's possible. I am not concerned about it though. One bid conferences will send whoever finishes in first place. The rest of the conferences will get close to their typical number of teams in.

Imo, worrying about not having conference tournaments is like worrying about the 13 scholarship limit. The numbers will work themselves out.

Btw, I am not suggesting that you are worrying about not having conference tournaments.

My reasoning is that they are consolidating 3 tournaments in to 1. (Considering that NcAAs are really 3 4 team weekend tournaments with winners advancing). Having an extra conference tournament would go counter to that.

conferences and the NCAA are 2 different entities with different needs and agendas so who knows.

not really worried about it either way at the moment

The 2021 ACC Tournament is moving from Washington, D.C. to Greensboro.
