Fifty Thousandth Post

So 49,999 posts ago, I got started here on Rivals in July 2001. Of course there were earlier times in earlier incarnations, leading back to the Rutgersfan.com days. So I've been involved since the Shea era up until now, although back then information was very limited. Today I think we're overloaded with information, and the difficulty is sorting out the good from the bad.

Over the years I've seen this board become a real community as it's grown. This has become a place where we can joke around with each other, ask for help on general or obscure subjects, revel or lament in the onfield results of the football team (too much of the latter recently), share our lifes' moments with each other, etc. And find out who has the best pizza in Central New Jersey.

But lately the Pandemic, the political divide, the strife that has played itself out over the summer, all of this has, at times, made this a very ugly place to be. We need to remember what brought us all together, our shared experiences with Rutgers University and Rutgers Football.

Speaking of Rutgers Football, a helluva way to start off Schiano Round 2, huh? Who'd have thunk it? Hopefully in the weeks, months and years following we enjoy a lot more of this during Schiano's Reign.

So 50K down, now onto the next 50K!

At my current rate of posting, I have to follow RU for another 500 years to get to 50k.

In that spirit, thought I'd post a link to the History of Rutgersfan.com, written by Keith Burkert, the founder of that domain name and one of the giants of Rutgers sports history on the internet, along with Mike Fasano (who started Exit 109) and John Otterstedt, who had KnightCourt and then teamed up with Keith. It's a good read - I think it used to be housed on this site, but I couldn't find it...

Actually I started with exit 109. Anyway I started as
As NickKnight and after about 1 and half years a message
Please log in and when I did, it would say sorry NickKnight
Is already used. After awhile I gave up and started up
NickKnight 1. Is it possible for someone to change my membership date and add the original posts. To my avatar?
